How Much Weight Can I Lose on P90X?


Being slightly overweight and being obese are two different things. You can measure how overweight or obese you are by using a Body Mass Index calculator. While BMI is not 100% accurate, it is a good general indicator of how much weight you need to lose to become “healthy.”


It is always difficult to estimate how much weight someone can lose on a weight loss and diet program such as P90X. A man’s body is different from a woman’s, and there are different body types that people fall into. Depending on your sex and body type, two people can weigh the same exact amount but one can be healthy and the other can be overweight. For example, a 6’2″ muscular man can weigh 220 lbs and be considered healthy, while a 5’1″ woman weighing 220 pounds can be considered overweight.

So what if you are 50, 100, or even 200 pounds over your “healthy weight?” Is it possible to use a weight loss program like P90X to see results?

As a matter of fact, we think P90X is one of the best programs available for losing a lot of weight fast when you are overweight or obese.

Because jumping head first into weight loss works much better than the “slow and steady” approach.

    I started the P90X program at 5’7″, 190lbs. I could pass the fitness test, except the pull up because I have never done one in my entire life. I am not in good shape, I am a college student and I have a desk job. I followed the diet loosely, I eliminated sugars and pop for sure, but I skimped on the protein and hydration and really regretted it. In the first month I lost 12lbs, enough that my doctor was thrilled and wanted to know what I was doing. I struggled the first week, got better the second week and by the third week my arms were getting noticeably firmer and my thighs were like bricks! Because I was not hydrating myself properly, I passed out more than once during the workouts. Don’t be scared though, I drink less than 2 glasses of fluid a day… I just hate drinking stuff. Week four I was doing Yoga X and I injured my hip flexor muscle. This injury put me out for two months. I am just starting again and I am definitely going to stick with the protein and water. The key here is not to over exert yourself. You want to do the whole workout and all the reps that Tony is doing, but you will injure yourself. Know your limits!

    So, I first finished my first week of p90x. I love it. I’m so sore all over, but I’m proud. My workout buddy actually told me my stomach already looks smaller. I didn’t even notice til a few hours ago that my stretch marks from weight gain are lightening up! I really can’t wait to see my results at the end of p90x. But I know, I’m going for the p90x+ !!

    I am doing the P90X work out in my weight lifting class at school, I’m a female but i am also overweight. I have a bone disorder that doesn’t allow me to do many things, so therefore since i can’t do some of the things that Tony does on the video i don’t get credit. Now, our teacher didn’t tell us to consult with our physicians before he told us to start this program, so what should i tell my teacher the next time he says i can’t get my credit for that day?

    Plus this is only to prove a point to him that not everyone can be an athlete(He coaches the football team). So in theory i wouldn’t have to do this work out at all if i didn’t want to because its my choice right?

    I’m a 20 year old college student and i’m on day 9 of P90X, and wow its amazing!!! i started at 209 lbs and i’m already down 8lbs!! Don’t get me wrong this workout is really hard! I have always been overweight but i was a cheerleader throughout high school so i am useto really working hard. You have to be committed and just try your best!! this workout is exciting and you do a different workout everyday which makes it not boring!! even though i’m only on day 9 i recommend this!! i also do the nutrition plan :)
