Thinking about buying P90X but not sure if the results are real? Does it seem too good to be true when watch the P90X infomercials?

The fact is, that P90X does work, and there are hundreds of testimonials and reviews from people that can prove it. It’s not too good to be true, because P90X does not promise easy results. You will see results, but only if you stick to and commit to the exercises and diet program outlined in P90X.

Every day people like you are using P90X to lose weight and get the body they want. It does not matter if you are young or old, male or female, black or white or purple – the people that commit to P90X for 90 days see results!

Tony, where were you 20 years ago?

I am a 3-time P90X graduate. All I can say is, “Tony, where were you 20 years ago?” I am in better shape now, at 38, than I was in high school.

No, I don’t exactly look like Tony Horton. At 50 years of age that guy is a fitness freak of nature. And, I don’t believe he got that way simply by performing only the P90X exercises.

But, I do believe in P90X. I used to have a Total Gym. I went as far as I could with that product. It worked great and I would highly recommend the Total Gym for beginners. But, eventually, I stopped seeing any gain using the Total Gym.

P90X will change your life

If (and this is a big if) you give all you have to p90x you will see amazing results. You must stop eating junk food, fast food, and all that other garbage that just bogs your body down, and start treating yourself right. I am not saying you can never have a potato chip again, but you at least shouldn’t have any for 90 days. Use this time to learn proper portions, get used to a exercise regimen, and realize how great you could feel if you just put the time into exercising and eating right.

On monday (today is 2/19/10) I will be starting phase two (aka my second 30 days). I have already lost 20 pounds (that 20 pounds by a scale, and I know I have gained a decent bit of muscle so my fat loss is probably a bit higher). I am 22 years old, 6 foot 1 in tall, and was 260lbs.

I was not able to do the fit test that Beachbody suggested you be able to do before attempting this program. But I just ignored that advice and did it anyway. I knew I wouldn’t be able to do exactly what they did or maybe just not as many, but as Tony Horton says all the time in these videos “Do your best and forget the rest”. I would recommend this amazing program to everyone I know (and everyone I don’t if they give me the chance to).

One last thing. If you are one of those people (like I was) who says that they just don’t have time to exercise, then stop kidding yourself. You will never ever have time to exercise if you wait for free time to “show up”. You have to make time. You have to decide that you aren’t going to watch that hour of TV or you are going to wake up an hour earlier. If your thinking “well that’s easy for you to say. Your only 22 and you have the time.” Not so. I am a graduate student who teaches 4 classes, wakes up at 5:30am, is at school by 7:00 (have to battle traffic), and gets home anywhere between 6-9. If I can find time to do all of that, study, and grade tests then anyone can find at least 1 hour to change their life. I encourage you to give yourself 3 months. Believe in yourself, and watch your body change right before your eyes.

So Worth It
This was the first in home workout I have ever done and thought I would never do one.

But for some reason this one caught my attention and has held it. I am in my second round of this workout and using the food plan this time. The first time I lost 8 inches around my chest and waist and a good deal of weight, and that was without the food plan. i did not eat nachos everynight but I did follow the workouts…

Let me say this, I was overweight and way out of shape, and found it hard to get started, but with motivation and determination that this place provides I am almost a year into my weight loss and I have kept it off.

I have faltered and fell at times, only to get back on the wagon, and I have to say this without sounding cheesy…but this thing really changed my life.

If you get this be sure to get bands or a pull up bar…it will make a huge difference

The packaging for all 13 DVDs is great, and no excess garbage cases. The Nutrition Guide is very informative and well written, and so is the Workout Book they include. I don’t follow the food guide to the ‘T’ since I’m on a budget, but they include great recipes for pretty much anyone’s taste.

The reason I included a review of the regular Power 90 was to express just how impressed I am with the improvement and greatness that the P90X routine is.

Pros over the regular P90:
1.) The workouts are HARD. Unless you’ve have an Olympian type body(which 99% of us dont), these workouts will kick your butt. If it doesn’t, you’re obviously not trying hard enough or doing something wrong.

2.) No matter what level of fitness or what sport you love to play, you’ll benefit from these routines. Tony covers everything to improve flexibility, strength, endurance, and stamina. Any athlete will become an even better one after 90 days.

3.) Not repetitive. You can go for almost 2 weeks without doing the same workout twice. In the regular Power 90, you only tasted some of the things that P90X has. This expands on EVERYTHING you learn in Power 90; things like Yoga, Strength training, Cardio, High/Low impact movements, Flexibility, etc.

4.) Price. For 120 bucks, you get the Nutrition guide, Workout Guide, and 1 intro DVD + 12 Workout DVDs. Pretty much under 10 dollars per DVD. That would be about $30 a month, which is an average cost for going to a gym. In the long run, the program pays for itself.

5.) In reality, all you need are workout bands and your own body weight to do everything in the program. The key thing is how you use the bands, so you don’t necessarily need weights or the pull-up bar. However, if you’re trying to bulk up, I recommend using weights.

6.) Presentation. The workout studio they shoot it looks great and truly fits the atmosphere for the whole P90X image. Direction and guidance from Tony like always, is outstanding. He tells you exactly how to perform a stretch/workout/warmup, why you do it, and where you should feel the burn or stretch. Like someone else pointed out, his workout buddies vary in body types so you can see the results of what each body type can achieve in the end.

The Results are Real

P90X by far is the best program on the market. It far surpasses any workout that I’ve done. Follow the program and YOU WILL see results. Your life will change in more ways than one. I started off thinking “Oh no another goofy infomercial’ but then I really listened to what Tony had been saying and the interesting thing is I started doing what he calls Muscle Confusion a few months before I’d even seen the P90X commercial.

I did a different workout DVD everyday prior to P90X. When I saw the infomercial I thought he this guy has created a system that does just that. A different well structured workout everyday. This program has changed my life.

I feel more confident, beautiful (inside and out) and I look at myself and others in a more positive light. Check out the Awesome YouTube community just Type in P90X and see real people just like you and me who have made amazing transformations. Watch the video journals… everyday people show you themselves on video day one and then watch the 90 day video. No trickery just the real deal. I can even do one arm pushups something I would never in my life have imagined doing before P90X.

You will also be amazed at what you can do after doing YogaX. The positions are endless and may even improve life in the bedroom. I’m way more flexible than I ever was.

I can’t say enough about how life changing this program is.

It’s worth every penny. You’ll feel like you’ve gotten your money worth 100 times over.

Just wanted to give everyone regarding the longevity of P90X. In short- it’s still amazing. I actually started doing the program last year with co-workers. They liked it so much that some of them decided to go in on the Tony Horton 1-on-1 series and the Insanity series (that’s how you keep it from getting real expensive, get some friends and share).

The bottom line is that this stuff works, and keeps working, and works well together. The beauty has always been in the mix and match. Once you can master that you’ll have enough to keep you fit for the rest of your life. The advantage to Insanity is that there are no weights, so it travels better than P90X.

I know you can substitute power bands, but it still feels like cheating. So when we travel for work for a few days it’s Insanity that comes with us. But other than that P90X still rules and I still get amazing results by simply pushing harder, and faster, and perfecting my form. Plus, after I’ve been away from some of the workouts for a few months they do present a challenge for me when I return to them. I don’t think they’ll ever be “easy” per se. So just “keep pressing play”.

Whoa……..What a workout!
First off let me say that I am a 23 year old male who has consistently been working out at a gym since I was 16. I have always felt it was only women who use fitness videos. After watching the P90x informercial I decided to order this product but was skeptical working out at home would be as effective as the gym. After completing the 90 day bootcamp, let me say Wow.

I went from 14 to 8% bodyfat, my chest, arms, and abs are ripped and I feel great, I am in the best shape of my life by far. Even though I am done with this 90 day program I still use it everyday because I enjoy it so much more than going to a gym. Tony and co. make you feel like you are working out with a bunch of friends which makes this workout more enjoyable. This was the best $150 bucks I have ever spent, just remember to Bring It!

Outstanding workout; NOT a gimmick in any way!

You may see it on TV normally around resolution time in January but I wanted to assure the fellow consumer that this workout is a very well put together product. And it does require a strong commitment to continue through the program. I found the diet program to be a little cumbersome at first, but I found as long as I ate in accordance with a healthy diet system like Abs Diet for instance, I was fine and I still saw results the same way.

P90X stands for Power 90–EXTREME; this is NOT for someone who’s been sedentary in their fitness lifestyle. Get Power Half Hour or the regular Power 90 if that is you. I was in relatively good shape when I started it and it kicked my butt.

But I stuck with it and it took my fitness levels up permanently a few notches and though I may let myself go a little bit from time to time, I’m still in great shape because of sticking to P90X. If you don’t like getting up to go to the gym all the time, this is a GREAT alternative.

Changed my Life and Mindset! AWESOME!

Before I got this I thought the ab muscles in 300 were a digital special effect. I though there was no way someone could be in that sort of shape.

I’d seen the infomercials a few times and was skeptical. 90 days and I would be super fit? I’m really skinny.

But then I thought, “I guess it makes sense. If you workout everyday for an hour or more, and eat right, you should get really fit.” If the infomercial was telling me I just had to workout every other day for 15 minutes I wouldn’t believe it, but it was really asking me to commit to something.

Now I’ll tell you it is a huge commitment. I did it for 4 weeks and then started school and did not have any free time to do it. Most of the time it would take me 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the workout. But in those 4 weeks I made so many muscles. My face got thinner and muscles I didn’t know you were supposed to have showed up.

I didn’t use it for about 18 weeks when I was really busy. I thought I lost everything I did in 4 weeks, and then I started again. After 1 week everything I had before came back. I’ve been doing it now for 3 weeks, so I’m only 1 month into it, but let me say I’m getting awesome fit. I am so excited. I am happy to be where I am just after a month, but I might as well go for super fit.

It is an extremely intense workout. You do what you can and you get better. The ab workout is about 3 days a week, 16 minutes long, but is the most intense thing ever. After a while though you can feel the muscles you are building and it feels great.

I don’t want to just be a muscle head, so I’m glad core, cardio, and yoga are included. This actually really turned me onto Yoga. The whole thing, exercising and everything has really pulled me out of the more depressed state I used to be in. I feel so good about myself now.

I am very impressed. I would say my physique is now rival to some guys I know that work at gyms and take tons of weight gaining supplements. I see some of these guys with tiny legs or shoulders or weak backs or abs. I’m getting the full workout here. I’m even surprised how much muscle I’ve been putting on without supplements. I am also a vegetarian and just eating lots of fruit, vegetables, and whole grains.

Surprisingly good, and I’m a trainer!

I’m a trainer and I’ve bought a LOT of fitness DVDs in the last several years. Most of them are crap. Really.

So, I saw the infomercial for P90X and checked it out online. Finally made the purchase. And….I’m really impressed. The workouts aren’t for wimps, which is exactly what I find people really want. My clients like to be pushed and Tony really pushes, but safely. I like that he’s not too macho nor too egotistical to back off and say, ‘Hey, I’ve done enough.’

Lives up to the hype!
I’m a practicing medical doctor (disclaimer–I’m not giving you any specific medical advice on individual level) and have worked out about 4-5 days a week for years. This is the BEST workout program I have ever tried.

Its also the most complete in 1 package approach I’ve seen. It takes some very cutting edge stuff in excercise science & makes it reality.

What I really like about it is it gives a very effective workout & you get faster results because of its use of muscle confusion which gives more efficient work outs because the muscle groups are constantly changed. It also works out all the major muscle groups & gives cardio, yoga, martial arts & stretching in addition to simple strength training. It also gives a book on dieting. Each specific part-the strength training, dieting, cardio, nutrition, they are all in tune modern scientific knowledge.

Even the martial arts DVD has you doing moves that are real martial arts (& I’ve taken martial arts lessons for years). I’m no yoga expert, but people I know who have done it for years were impressed with its yoga DVD.

I have found this DVD more effective than working out in a high end gym for about 1 hr a day. You don’t need much equipment, about $150 worth of equipment tops (some dumbells, a pull up bar, you can get more but this is all you really need).

The only thing I didn’t like about this series is you have to spend over an hour a day on several of the workouts. This is very time consuming though you will see results fast. I suggest that some of the portions of the workout be performed at double speed on the DVD player such as warm up & stretching to save time.

I’ve been able to cut the workout down by about 10-15 minutes (to about 45-55 minutes a day) but in my opinion I get the same benefits because I do think the stretching & warm up are on the long side. Aside from that I think this DVD series is the best there is.

50 years old and in the best shape of my life

There are so many great reviews of this product already here but I felt compelled to add my own. I have been running and doing yoga for years and was in reasonably good shape (5′11″ 180lbs) when I started P90X but was feeling blue about recently turning 50 and wanted to see if I could get in better shape.

You should be aware that to be successful on P90X, you also need to change your diet. This is very important. There is a diet book that comes with P90X, I did not follow it too closely but took away some key points: more lean protein, no dessert, no junk, reduce alcohol, cut back on carbs (initially, later in the program you need carbs).

The most important diet pointers are to eat several small meals throughout the day and to not eat within 2 hours of going to bed. You need to set aside time to do this program, at least 1 hr per day, 6 days a week and 1.5 hrs on the yoga day (once a week , except twice a week for 3 of the weeks).

That being said it works and I actually began to look forward to the workouts(after a few weeks). In 90 days I lost 17 lbs and gained a lot of strength. I went from size 34 pants being tight to size 32 being loose. When I started I could do 5 pull-ups, now I can do 12.

The workouts are tough, you have to adopt their motto that they start every DVD with “BRING IT”. You need to live that. I wish this program was around 20 years ago, I have spent so much on gyms, yoga DVDs, yoga classes, etc. Nothing I have done has gotten in the kind of shape P90X did. Enjoy!

The best workout on the market!

I haven’t found a workout out there that compares to how awesome this one is. I have a “love-hate” relationship with P90X, it’s a great workout and I love how I feel afterward, but it is difficult at times! It’s a great set of workouts if you are looking for a challenge and variety and not something “mainstream” like those workout DVD’s with famous chicks on the cover like, “Ooh look at me, I can bellydance and if you do my workout, you’re going to look like me!” YEAH RIGHT! Those chicks probably do P90X behind the scenes.

The main reason P90X works (and this is mentioned a lot in the workouts) is because of “muscle confusion” which challenges your muscles with every different workout, so you don’t plateau. There is also a 2nd level, after you complete the first 90 days, you can step it up and make it harder. There are also “low-impact” versions of most moves, so almost anyone can do the workout.

To really get the most benefit out of P90X, Tony recommends doing it 6 days a week. Sounds like a lot, but it’s only 90 days and I’m sure you can free up about 1 1/2 hours a day if you get up a little earlier and don’t watch Gray’s Anatomy at night, or however you want to do it. P90X is addicting, trust me. And there’s a guy on the videos that has a prosthetic leg – if he can do it, you can do it!

I recommend this product to all my friends and family and strangers.

The best for getting ripped

I’ve been working out for over 30 years. Wrestling, marathon running, powerlifting, etc. etc.

This program is the best I’ve ever seen for getting ripped and in shape. However, you are not going to get huge or strong by doing Tony’s routine. Forget benching 300+, squatting 400, etc. from doing this routine.

It’s about endurance and getting ripped. And this is not for the faint of heart. Tony will kick your a##!

But, it works. Also, the critical factor in any program is DIET.

The people who have most success (see infomercials) are very strict on their diets while using this routine.

Last word: I tried it. If you follow the exercises every day for 90 days and watch your diet everyday, you will see awesome results. TONY IS FOR REAL!

Wanna get ripped? Forget the Gym

This is the most intense, efficient, and motivating home workout I have ever seen. I’ve been to gyms, used personal trainers, done different diets, and I have gotten better results from this home workout than all the time I spent in the gym combined. Even after I bought a full dumbell set, its still cheaper and more efficient than going to a top notch gym just in the 1st month. Its like paying $160 bucks for a lifetime membership.

There are so many different workouts you do all week, then the kenpo works the entire body all at once. I lost 4 lbs in the 1st week! FYI the diet is crucial for shedding the weight, but I still get to eat a sub everyday for lunch with over 1/3lb of meat on it (just no mayo or olive oil).

Whats really cool about this one is that the instructor constantly reminds you to take breaks whenever you need them, in addition to scheduled breads in the segments, and to always do what you can, take care of old injuries, and keep going.

This workout will carve you a new bod, but you’ve got to want it to make it happen, or “Bring It” like Tony says. Overall, this workout is SUPER EFFICIENT. If you’re going for super muscle bulk, then you’ll need a weight bench and a spotter. If you want the all-round ripped athletic beach bod, then this is the workout for you.

Hottest thing on the market!
First I want to start with saying that this workout program works!

I am probably like 90% of people who see the infomercials on late night tv and say, “That does not work!”

Well, until I met a few people who had actually tried it, I was a non believer. Then I met a few people (men & women) who were average everyday working members of society who had tried and completed the program and who visibly, looked better. Now, I will not say they were all “ripped & buff” but I will say they have visible improvements.

So, I decided to get the P90X system. Ok, so, I was chillin’ had gained a few pounds and was “sucking” it in to fit my suits and dress shirts. I was like, “this is crazy, I have to do something!” I started running and watching my diet but it was slow and I wanted faster results.

I got P90X (I am only at the 30 day mark now) and it is explosive. I got the bands because I did not want to go out and buy weights. I also did not buy the pull up bar because I did not want all that stuff in my house.

But the video shows you ways to complete all the exercises with both bands & weights so, you won’t miss a step! Now, I can’t lie, I don’t really follow the nutrition part but I do watch my calorie intake nor do I eat after 8pm. It only takes an hour a day to follow along with what Tony says and like he states, you can always push the pause button to take a break.

So, in conclusion, if you want to trim down your body fat, neck and waist line, you are already in pretty good physical condition and you have an hour a day to spare, this is the program for you. Stick to it and realize that to get the perfect body (for you) it takes some effort. I really hope this helps!

Life changing
I NEVER buy anything from a television ad. I was surprised at myself when I called in and made the purchase.

I have worked through the DVDs twice. I would recommend this for everyone. I’m looking for teammates to start again. I lost 30 lbs and decreased 2 inches in my waist. I feel so much better mentally and physically. I have never really been athletic and I can’t believe I made it through the workouts.

It takes a lot of commitment and about an 1.25 hours a day except for the typical 4th day of the week which will take about 1.75 hours. If you purchase the program, enjoy and just stick with it! Oh… and by the way… do your Yoga!

Here are more stories from men that have completed the P90X and turned their lives around.

Jeremy Yost, Male, Age 33

At only age 33, Jeremy Yost already felt like he was knocking at death’s door – tipping the scales at 370 pounds, on medication for his dangerously high blood pressure, and walking with a limp due to severe arthritis.

“I had no energy for my family, especially for my two young active sons. I basically avoided anything other than being inside the house on the couch.”

He was complacent about his weight and didn’t realize the dangerous lifestyle he was living. A friend confronted Jeremy about his weight.

“He asked me how I would feel if another man had to replace me and raise my sons, um, I was speechless… It made the situation really real for me. It forced me to think of the real events that would occur if I didn’t change my ways.”

A high school athlete, Jeremy started asking buddies what they were doing to get in shape and found that many were doing P90X. When he saw the way their eyes lit up when describing P90X, Jeremy knew the program was for him.

“The most appealing characteristic that they described was the variety. There was days when they did strength training, days where they did cardio, days when they did stretching, and that really interested me.”
He loved the workouts, but there were major obstacles in his quest to get fit. He continually faced the temptation to eat poorly, and the arthritis in his ankle caused him intense pain.

“When I first started P90X, I swear I used every modification that Tony could throw at me. Whether it was from being so out of shape or physically being too big or my ankle, I had to modify everything. I really struggled. But around every corner Tony saying, ‘Do your best, and forget the rest.’ So many times I felt like he was personally talking to me.”

Bret Kalista, Male, Age 26

Bret Kalista lived an extremely sedentary life, consisting of sitting behind a desk at work for twelve hours, then coming home and sitting some more.

Bret didn’t have any energy to play with his children at all. He got to the point where instead of encouraging his sons to be active, he would encourage them to pop a DVD in and watch a movie.

Bret would rationalize his poor physical condition by telling himself that weight gain was just the result of aging or that the weight gain resulted from recent knee surgery that prohibited him from doing anything strenuous.

Ashamed to take off his shirt, and weighing two hundred pounds, Bret was shocked at how unhealthy and overweight he had become. He needed to change.

Bret decided to commit to P90X. He was intrigued by the infomercial’s use of “real people” with “real” results. Plus, P90X was a complete program – complete with a whole-body workout and diet plan.

Brett initially struggled with the nutrition plan because his body had grown so accustomed to eating junk food, but he stuck with the plan and eventually the junk-food cravings ceased.

Today, Bret has completed one round of P90X and is gearing up for his second. Without the constant support and encouragement from his coach, Tommy Mygrant, Bret would not have been able to get through the first round. Bret now has the energy to play with his kids, not just watch movies with them.

He has lost thirty-one pounds and nineteen percent of his body fat. According to Brett, before P90X he only saw things that he “couldn’t” do. Now he sees things that he “hasn’t” done yet.

Josh Spencer, Male, Age 23

Growing up, Josh lived by his parents’ principle, “If you want to succeed in life, you have to work harder than everybody else.” At age 5, he developed a passion for the game of baseball. Josh spent countless hours practicing, dedicated to improving his game both physically and mentally. Thanks to constant hard work, Josh emerged as a full-fledged college star, earning numerous honors. After graduating, Josh took a job as a financial representative, trading in his glove for a calculator. In spite of the pledge he made to stay in shape, Josh quickly let himself go.

Josh never thought about what he ate. He got away with eating pizza, white bread, cookies, and ice cream when he was hitting the weight room 6 days a week between practices and games. After college, Josh continued eating junk food, and he stopped working out. His gut grew larger, and his pants felt tighter.
Josh was unhappy, to say the least. He was 20 pounds overweight, and it affected every facet of his life. Relationships with friends and family suffered, as did his career. A financial representative constantly interacts with others, and to be successful, one requires self-confidence. Josh didn’t have very much self-confidence. He was disappointed with himself.

One day, Josh decided he’d had enough. He looked in the mirror, disgusted with himself, and proclaimed, “You are going to change your life.”

One night, while flipping channels, Josh saw an infomercial for P90X. He never watched infomercials, but P90X caught his attention. Josh saw the sweat dripping down Tony’s face and chest. The program looked like it was the real deal. It demanded some hard work. Josh ordered the DVDs and the P90X Chin-Up Bar. He vowed to follow P90X, no matter how difficult it would be.

When the program arrived, Josh was surprised to find the P90X 3-Phase Nutrition Guide inside. He read the guide. It was clear that Josh needed to completely change his diet if he was going to get the results he wanted. After a trip to the grocery store, Josh started to “Bring It.”

The Chest & Back workout was day one. How, Josh wondered, could he do another push-up? By the end of the second set, his arms felt like gelatin. Ab Ripper X was next. The next morning, Josh was so sore – more than he had ever been in his life. That was hard; this is going to work!

After 250 days of P90X, Josh is ripped. He’s in better shape than he was when he played college baseball. At the request of his Beachbody Coach, Josh posts regular photos updating his progress in a thread on the Message Boards. He can’t believe how much he inspires other members with his results. Now there’s a lot of accountability. Every time Josh decides to Push Play, he knows that he won’t let them down, and he will never let himself down.

David Keenan, Male, Age 23

Growing up overweight wasn’t easy for David. He grew self-conscious about eating and began eating in secret by himself. At 19 he tipped the scales at 360 pounds.

His doctor told him that, in order to save his own life, it was vital he get healthy. But he didn’t know where to start. David was skeptical when his older sister told him about a program that had worked for her and an aunt. Having tried a variety of fad diets and “springy fitness toys” with little success, David found it hard to buy into anything new. But he saw with his own eyes the difference it made for his aunt and sister. Their results and enthusiasm convinced David to give Power 90 a shot. The next thing he knew, his sister wanted to take “before” pictures and measurements. He was so nervous that he wouldn’t even take off his shirt for the camera. A few days later he Pushed Play for the very first time.

Right off the bat, Tony was moving and David was struggling to catch up – but his determination kept him going and, at the end of the first 35 minutes, he says that he “looked like [he] stepped out of a pool and panted like a woman giving birth.”

This was the start for David and before he knew it, he was halfway through the program and 40 pounds lighter. Every time David ran into people he hadn’t seen in a while, they were blown away by the weight he’d lost. Recognition like this really helped keep him going.

In a year he was down to 250 pounds but had hit a plateau. He decided to add Slim in 6 in the mornings and keep with his Power 90 at night. This combination, coupled with his now almost impeccable diet, led to great results.

He was hooked on the programs and decided to move up to P90X. David says that P90X was the most challenging physical activity he’d ever attempted. But when he saw the results he knew it was worth it. Having lost an astounding 160 pounds, he had lost half of his body weight! Coming up on year five, David has managed to lose a total of 160 pounds and 27 percent body fat.

But more importantly, he says, is that he’s kept it off and changed his lifestyle. His eating habits and exercise routine are all designed to help him lead a better and healthier life. He’s gained an abundance of knowledge and finds it funny that he, a former 360-pounder, now gives diet and exercise advice. David says that to struggle with a battle your whole life and come out victorious is the greatest feeling anyone could ever experience.

Scott Shoup, Male, Age 28

I’m Scott Shoup from Columbus, Ohio, and I lost 71 pounds, 22% body fat, and 10.5″ from my waist with Turbo Jam and P90X, forever changing my life and giving me the ripped Beachbody I always wanted.

Prior to beginning my transformation, I wasn’t in a very good place physically or psychologically. After developing bad eating habits as a wrestler in high school and then facing high levels of stress and a lack of physical activity throughout college, I had put on more than 70 pounds of fat, and I felt and looked miserable. This led to low self-esteem, suffering relationships with friends and family members, and I lost the passion and energy to live life to the fullest.

My health had become very poor from being so obese, and I began to experience several health related issues. One in particular that served as a major wake up call was when my wife told me that I would stop breathing periodically in my sleep, and it terrified her. Combining that reality check with our fast approaching wedding date was the spark I needed to realize it was definitely time for a change. It was then that I saw an infomercial for Turbo Jam that forever changed my life.

At first, even the introductory workouts had me out of breath since I was so badly out of shape, but within 3 weeks, I was keeping pace with even my favorite workouts. After 90 days, I lost nearly 50 pounds, 6 inches off my waist, and 15% body fat. The reward was a beautiful beach wedding and honeymoon in Jamaica. Our wedding was a dream come true, and the self-confidence and passion for life that came from my transformation made the experience so much better.

I told my wife that I was ready for a bigger challenge, and I wanted to continue my success by getting ripped, so she bought me P90X for my birthday… what would turn out to be the best present ever!! The first few weeks of P90X were extremely tough, requiring me to dig really deep just to finish the workouts. One of the most important aspects of the success I achieved with P90X was following the nutrition plan with no exceptions, and the supplements really helped me to keep Bringing It to maximize my results.

After just 3 months of P90X, I lost an additional 20 pounds, another 4.5″ from my waist, and 7% more body fat. The snoring, sleep apnea, acid reflux, digestive issues, and pessimistic attitude are now a thing of the past.

One of the sources of inspiration that helped me achieve my results was my coach, Robert Hudgens. Being a monthly contest winner himself, he helped me see what was achievable with strong determination and focus. But more importantly, he taught me how to be a great coach for others who were seeking their own transformation. His guidance as a coach served as a foundation for me to inspire others and help them reach for their dreams.

Since winning the monthly contest in August, I have remained determined to continue reaching for new goals and dreams that I gave up on at the peak of my obesity. Now on my 4th round of P90X, I built 10 pounds of lean muscle by increasing my workout intensity, I ran my first ever half-marathon, I enjoy many new fitness hobbies that have really enriched my life, I inspired my wife to commit to her own transformation (allowing our relationship to grow even closer), I launched a weight loss challenge at work (helping more than 40 coworkers lose weight), and I also fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams of returning to the mat as an assistant coach and nutrition advisor for my former high school wrestling team.

I look forward to working out everyday and inspiring others to reach for their fitness goals. I am both humbled and amazed at the number of people who were inspired after seeing my results, both in how I look and feel, as well as in how it changed my attitude and quality of life. Being a mentor and coach to those who I have inspired has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

With my physical transformation also came a priceless change in life perspective, as I now recognize the things that are most important in my life and not to “sweat the small stuff” that really doesn’t matter in the big picture. As Tony Horton would say, I just “do my best and forget the rest”, and this simple commitment has carried over to all aspects of my life, allowing me to continue living each day to the fullest.

John Caswell, Male, Age 37

Before John’s transformation, he struggled with weight, which fluctuated up and down, over and over again, for his entire life. At his heaviest, John weighed 285 pounds. Depressed, not 10 minutes would go by without John thinking about his weight. Instead of doing something to drop the pounds, though, he would just grab a bite to eat and try not to think about it for a while.

Eventually, John turned into a homebody because he was so ashamed of the way he looked. His wife would ask him if he wanted to go and do something- anything -to get out of the house, but John turned her down so many times that finally she stopped asking. For the most part, all John ever did was go to work and come back home. It was time to take action.

John built a home gym – where he hit the treadmill and began lifting weights. In three months, John lost more than 50 pounds, but he was ready to change things up. For months, John had been watching the P90X infomercial over and over again, so he decided to go for it.

After the first 90 days, John lost another 28 pounds, and his body fat dropped from 37 percent down to 24 percent. Now, after round two, John weighs 175 pounds, and his body fat is only 12 percent. John tells his co-workers about P90X every day. Sometimes they will joke, but a couple of them have listened, and now they’re starting to “Bring It.” Ultimately, they all know what P90X can do. John’s amazing results are a daily reminder.

Mike Ryan, Male, Age 36

Growing up in an athletic family, Mike played all kinds of sports. He was able to avoid serious injuries until age 19; he blew out both of his knees and hurt his back performing stunts on in-line skates. That didn’t stop Mike. He got into different sports that didn’t irritate his injuries. Mike was eventually forced to treat those injuries in physical therapy, which didn’t stop him from working out in the gym and pushing himself hard -sometimes a little too hard. Mike ended up tearing his abdomen in 13 places, and it took three surgeries to treat.

After that ordeal, Mike slowly lost track of his health and fitness, as he turned his attention elsewhere.
Mike focused on his family and his business, but he didn’t care about what he ate or what he did for physical activity. A typical day included work, one of Mike’s favorite meals at a restaurant for lunch, a big dinner, and then surfing the Internet or watching a movie after putting the kids to bed. Mike’s snoring got so bad that he had to sleep on the couch for months. Meanwhile, there was a garage full of sports equipment that went untouched.

At his heaviest, Mike weighed 217 pounds. He was mistaken for a portly actor one night, but that didn’t even stop Mike from ordering dessert. After his shirts no longer fit around his neck, he quit wearing ties to work while his suits were literally bursting at the seams.

Then one night, an infomercial for P90X came on TV. Mike asked his wife if she was trying to make a point, but she said that it just came on. Mike couldn’t find the remote control, so he watched. “I can do anything for 90 days,” he thought to himself. Mike told her that he would order the program if she would work out with him. His wife agreed and urged him to make the call. Mike was fed up with how he felt and how his clothes fit. It was time for a change, and he knew it.

True to his word, Mike started P90X alongside his wife. Mike loved the layout of the program. It all made sense. Mike also loved the Message Boards. The real people and the pride they felt were huge inspirations. Initially, Mike found it difficult to change his diet, but he knew that he needed to eat right if he wanted to look great. Mike and his wife filled their kitchen with healthy foods. He never leaves home without a nutritious snack and water. He can hardly believe how much better eating fresh fruit and vegetables makes him feel.

Mike has dropped 42 pounds since day one. He feels like a 21-year-old now, and he’s stronger than ever. Maybe now an NFL team will let him try out. More importantly, he no longer snores, so he can sleep next to his wife again. Inspired by their parents, Mike’s kids love to exercise, too, and they cheer him on every time their dad’s “Pushing Play.”

Seth Gibree, Male, Age 33

As a dentist, Seth Gibree was fully aware of the correlations between the mouth and body: what you put in your mouth will affect your body. But that didn’t stop him from bingeing on fast food whenever he felt like it. He was completely aware of his lack of conditioning and diet, yet he was doing nothing about it. Worried about the example he was setting for his wife of 10 years and two young sons, Seth decided it was time for a change.

The first step towards a new life and body began when Seth ordered P90X. The program arrived, but he shelved the DVDs for 6 months before he finally unwrapped the package and started reading through the materials. He had finally had enough and decided then and there to Push Play.

The first 6 weeks were rough, and to make matters worse, he battled two week-long colds. He tried to push through the sickness but that only made things worse. After recovering, Seth decided to take things one day at a time and listen to his body.

Seth was working out daily, but he wasn’t measuring his progress and using the Beachbody online community. The changes that were happening to his body came in baby steps, and he didn’t have any cheerleaders to help push him through to the finish line. Taking stock of these factors, he decided to get involved in the Message Boards, and what he discovered was a whole group of people eager to encourage and provide support. Seth found Pedro and his Pain Crew, and they became his support structure. They made him realize that exercise and diet work together more intricately than he’d ever known. Soon afterwards, Seth started to see the results that he’d always dreamed about.

These days, Seth’s blood pressure is down, his energy is up, and he’s in the best shape since he was a teenager. He’s lost 43 pounds, 17 percent body fat, and 5 inches off of his waist! He can play, swim, run, or walk with his kids, and feel awesome while doing it. Seth eats clean now and feels proud that he’s passing on healthy lifestyle habits to his sons.

Douglas Lowe, Male, Age 43

Douglas Lowe used to live a fairly active lifestyle. While in high school he played several sports, and as he got older, he skied, biked, and did some wakeboarding. These activities, coupled with some moderate exercise, kept Doug at a “steady” weight, but nowhere near fit.

But those activities became nonexistent as he aged and his weight increased. Doug’s wake-up call came while on a beach vacation. He couldn’t fit into his swimsuit and was forced to buy another on site. When he became winded just walking to the edge of the water, Doug decided something had to be done.

Finding Beachbody through friends, Doug started with Power 90 and lost forty pounds. But it wasn’t easy, and Doug struggled with changing his eating habits. At every social gathering, he was tempted with unhealthy food choices. But with the support of those closest to him, he stuck with a healthy eating plan.

Forty pounds lighter and armed with a new healthy lifestyle, he was ready for the “X.” By working out to P90X, Doug dropped another thirty-five pounds and, at the age of forty-three, is in the best shape of his life.

Ronald Cole, Male, Age 44

Ronald Cole’s life was a constant cycle of diet soda, eating what he wanted, and watching endless amounts of television. Consequently, he had chronic soreness in his knees, hips, and back. And he weighed close to 300 pounds.

“I was always making excuses for why I couldn’t stick with a diet or why I couldn’t stick with an exercise program. There was always a reason why, and it was never me. It was always something else.”

At one time an avid skier, those days were way behind him, and he realized that the hard way. Attempting to ski with friends, he was unable to keep up and quit after one attempt.

“I’m supposedly the expert skier, and these guys are looking to me for tips, advice . . . I got to the bottom, and I knew I was done for the day. I had to stop, I told them. I couldn’t go on. I literally laid in the snow for an hour. I was humiliated.”

In the past, Ron had tried every fad diet and purchased many of the fad pieces of exercise equipment, but nothing worked. After the attempt at skiing, he was motivated again to lose weight but wasn’t really dedicated. After six months of healthy eating, he fell right back into his old unhealthy habits.

“After a few months of eating like that, you just get tired of the food -the same thing over and over again, and no variety.”

Then during one of his marathon TV sessions, Ron caught the P90X infomercial and was struck by how “real” it seemed. At his weight though, he thought it would be hard to begin with, but he wanted to be an “X” man and set a goal: get in fairly good shape, and then move on to P90X. He started with Power 90.

“I wanted to find something to get me to a point where I could do P90X. I ordered Power 90. It was exactly what I was looking for. It would take me from that state of being fresh off the couch to fit enough to do P90X.”

Ron’s biggest hurdle was a family that initially wasn’t ready to join him in eating more healthily. He had to cook his own meals and watch as the others ate all the things Ron gave up. It was a hard and slow process, but Ron went to the Beachbody Message Boards, and they never let him down.

If you’re wondering who uses P90X, it’s not just athletes that want to get into shape again. P90X users come from all walks of life, and their success stories tell their tale.

We looked at some P90X Testimonials from women, so let’s take a look at what some men are doing with the program.

These are real testimonials from real people who have succeeded with P90X. Some of them used other BeachBody products, but have used P90X at some point. Also, some people go through multiple cycles of P90X because they want to reach goals that can’t be done in just one cycle.

Dixon Mathews, Male, Age 32

Prior to discovering Hip Hop Abs®, Dixon was a self-proclaimed lazy, beer-drinking fast food and cigarette addict. Without a care in the world, he ate whatever he could stuff into his mouth. Thanks to a diet based largely around fried foods, Dixon ballooned up to 300 pounds. He was in such bad shape that he says he was out of breath when running in his own nightmares!

On a trip to Hawaii Dixon had a wake-up call when he almost drowned while merely floating in the ocean. This caused him to try every fad diet he could get his hands on but, not surprisingly, they never seemed to work.

About a year later, his father passed away at 74. Dixon says this was a huge shock to him as his father had previously won the New York State Arm Wrestling Championship at 63 years of age. Dixon says that he never expected his hero to die but that when he did, he began to see things in a different light. He started working out and quickly went from a size 44 down to a 40. But then, thinking he had reached his goal, he became complacent and the weight came pouring back on.

It was when his old size 42 pants started feeling tight again that Dixon was turned on to Power 90 by a friend. The program worked but he didn’t use the Message Boards or log on to WOWY, and he soon became discouraged. That’s when fate stepped in. One night, at a local pub, Dixon ran into his friend who had originally introduced him to Power 90.

She asked him if he was interested in losing weight by participating in a Hip Hop Abs test group. Of course he said yes and the rest is history. Since then he’s been very active in the online community and he’s lost an amazing 60 pounds! After Hip Hop Abs, Dixon continued on with P90X. In the last year he’s run six marathons and completed two bicycle tours. Looking back at his old self, Dixon often wonders how he ever let himself go so far. But now that’s behind him and the future looks brighter than ever.

James Evanski, Male, Age 21

Before he began his healthy lifestyle, James’ life was similar to that of most overweight college students. He stayed inside playing video games and never really did a whole lot of intense cardio-related activities. James grew up on a farm and was a pretty active kid. He bailed hay, worked the land, and only came in the house to eat and sleep. But, as he entered high school, things started to change.

As a freshman, James sprouted up from 5′8″ to 6′5″. He was always the kid whom no one wanted to mess with; because of this, he was never really teased too badly about his weight. When college came along, his eating habits only got worse, and the weight kept packing on. Then, one day, his dad—who was also his best friend—got really sick from stress-induced diabetes. He was admitted to the hospital, and that’s when James realized that if he kept on the same unhealthy path as his dad, then he would soon suffer the same fate. He immediately decided to stop eating junk food and start getting healthy.

One night, James came across an infomercial for P90X and knew instantly that he wanted to look like Tony Horton. He started with Power 90, moved up to the Power 90 Master Series, and began P90X in September 2007. Since committing to working out every day, James has lost an amazing 101 pounds! Nowadays, James isn’t embarrassed by his looks; in fact, he’s proud of them.

Pedro Rodriguez, Male, Age 44

Sitting one night eating junk food and watching TV, Pedro came across an infomercial for Power 90. However, it gathered dust on Pedro’s shelf until some time later when he finally became fed up with being overweight and out of shape. After completing Power 90, Pedro went on to the Power 90 Master Series to prepare for P90X.

Losing almost 40 pounds, he now has the endurance and energy to play with his children. Kicking it up a notch with P90X, he cannot believe the strength he now has.

Rod Martin, Male, Age 40

Last Christmas, Rod found himself in the worst shape of his life. He and his wife saw the P90X infomercial over the holiday break and were inspired to embrace a healthy lifestyle. They had worked out in the past, but as the years went on, they settled into bad eating habits and put on extra weight.

Rod had two goals in mind when he started P90X in January, 2007: to be in the shape he was in as a young Army Platoon Leader by his birthday, and to set a good example for his children. Being aware of the national childhood obesity problem, Rod felt it was important for his children to live healthy and fit lifestyles. Every day, Rod and his wife worked out together and followed the nutritional plan. With his wife motivating him, he was able to lose 19 pounds and 10 percent body fat!

Darrick Smith, Male, Age 25

When Darrick Smith stepped on a scale, it read well over 400 pounds. He was dangerously obese with a body fat percentage three times higher than healthy levels. He hated looking at himself in a mirror and became more and more anti-social.

“Most of my days were spent at the computer playing video games, MRPGs—anything, you know, just to pass the time. If I wasn’t playing a video game, I was probably sleeping … anywhere between 15 to 18 hours of sleep, depending on the day.”

Darrick wanted to lose weight, but everywhere he turned people told him that it was in his genes, and he would always be overweight-including his doctor.

“He told me that because of my genetics, I’d have high blood pressure, I’d probably get diabetes. I’m at a great risk for cancer and that the only thing he could help me with is medicine or an overpriced cardiologist ….It made me angry. It made me mad.”

Then Darrick saw his brother, Ramall, lose well over 100 pounds using Power 90, and that gave him hope and inspiration to give the program a try.

“When I first started working out, I was always out of breath in the first 15 minutes. Heart was pounding in my ears. It was insanely difficult, but it was worth it. I knew each time I Pushed Play, I would be making myself better in some way.”

Darrick had to modify Power 90 tremendously when he first started, but that’s what he loved about the workout. He could do it at his own pace, in his own home. What he had trouble modifying was his bad eating habits. Everywhere he turned he was confronted with bad food choices. But Darrick overcame those struggles with his immense desire to live a healthy life.

“It was a lifestyle change that actually worked. It wasn’t something that was going to yo-yo where you lose 5 pounds and gain back 15. It was a foundation of fitness. That’s what I found. That’s the difference.”

By staying committed to Power 90, Darrick has dropped an amazing 161 pounds-161! He says that his friends and family almost don’t recognize him.

Todd Ryther, Male, Age 29

Twenty-nine-year-old Todd was a far cry from the in-shape high-school football player of his youth. Now weighing 333 pounds, he could barely keep up with his 2-year-old daughter.

“We’d play for a few minutes, and I’d have to take a break and tell her well maybe tomorrow we’ll play again or maybe in a little while because I’d be out of breath.”

His day consisted of sitting in front of a computer at work, watching TV when he got home, and eating whatever he could get his hands on, but with a second child on the way he kept thinking he should do something about his weight.

“My wife was pregnant with our second child, and I just wanted to be around for them for a long time so that I could play with them and do the things they wanted to do.”

Over and over again, Todd told himself that he needed to make a change for his family. Then he finally realized he had to make a change for himself. He didn’t want to be the fat guy anymore. He wanted to live an active, healthy life.

“I also realized that I had to do it because I wanted to do it.”

Todd felt like he had watched a hundred infomercials for P90X. The program looked great. It wasn’t a gimmick, just good old-fashioned diet and exercise-just like he used to do when he was on the high-school football team. While researching P90X on the Beachbody Web site, he thought he wasn’t quite ready for the X, but he was ready for Power 90.

“I was reading through some of the Message Boards. I realized I probably wasn’t ready for P90X. That’s when I stumbled upon Power 90. One of the forum members had a lot of success so I said, okay I’ll start that.”

But before starting the workout, he went through the meal plan. Following the nutrition guide, he cleaned out his cupboard and threw away all the junk food. Then he began day one. It wasn’t easy at his size, but he kept Pushing Play despite sore knees and an aching body.

“The Beachbody programs make it so easy. They give you the nutritional information. They give you easy-to-follow programs, and they’re there for you every step of the way with the Message Boards and with all the tools that they have.”

After 90 days of Power 90, Todd dropped 63 pounds and was ready to bring it with P90X. Two rounds later, he has shed a total of 133 pounds. One-hundred thirty-three! He no longer gets winded when playing with his kids, and his healthy lifestyle has caught on with everyone in the family. Todd’s wife is eating healthier and exercising. His oldest daughter is making smart snack choices without being reminded.

Dale Bramall, Male, Age 42

Before his total body transformation, Dale felt uncomfortable in his own body. Every once in a while, he would find the motivation to lose weight only to fall back into old habits. Dale was rarely active – unless eating counts as an activity. Dale once ordered 12 tacos and an extra-large soda from a drive-thru, ate everything, and then proceeded to drive a few miles down the road to a different drive-thru for another 12 tacos. Ordering only 12 tacos seemed less embarrassing at the time. A typical day in Dale’s life consisted of eating, going to work, eating, watching TV, and sleeping.

The turning point came 2 years ago when Dale heard the results from his physical; at 278 pounds, he had 44 percent body fat and elevated blood pressure. Dale’s daughter was – and still is – the most precious part of his life. It was time to make a change. Dale wanted to live a long life, but more importantly, he needed to show his daughter how to grow up healthy and active.

Dale found himself watching an infomercial for P90X over and over again. This looks brutal, Dale thought, and Tony really knows what he’s talking about. It has to work. Maybe Dale was afraid, but deep down inside, he knew that if he bought the program, then he would use it, and once he got started, then he would finish it. As soon Dale ordered the DVDs, he was excited and ready to go.

The biggest obstacle Dale faced was simply his overeating. Combine that with the difficulties of raising a family, and it was hard to “Bring It” from day one. At first, Dale would take days off, but as soon as he saw his abs coming back, he was hooked. This was all the motivation he needed to Push Play every day and stick to a better diet. In 2-1/2 years, Dale has lost 85 pounds, and he’s down to just 15 percent body fat.

Altaf Rahamatulla, Male, Age 46

In 2001, Altaf was involved in a car accident that left him in severe pain. He required cervical spine surgery, which left him physically disabled and in even more pain than before. Oxycontin and Ultram worked to ease the pain, but the extensive damage to Altaf’s body affected him mentally, as well. He was diagnosed with severe depression, anxiety, and panic disorder, for which he took Paxil, Xanax, Wellbutrin, and Ambien.

What’s more, Altaf also suffered from sleep apnea, a disorder that is characterized by stoppages in breathing during sleep. He had to use a CPAP machine just to sleep through the night. And that’s not even all of it.

Altaf also battled diabetes, reflux disease, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. In total, he was taking 12 different medications each day.

Prior to the accident, Altaf was a vice president at a major financial institution, and he had been studying martial arts for more than 20 years, earning black belts in three different styles. It was par for the course for the former high school athlete. After the accident, though, Altaf could no longer practice martial arts, or play any sports for that matter, and he was forced to go on medical leave from his job. There were times when the pain or depression got so bad that Altaf would stay in bed for weeks. He couldn’t visit his kids or spend any quality time with them, and the side effects of the medications made it difficult to have meaningful communication with anyone. Altaf’s life was in disarray.

Altaf felt like he had hit rock bottom. Then one day when he saw an infomercial for P90X. He was intrigued by the difficulty and intensity of the workout. Right then and there, Altaf made a commitment to himself to try the program. He thought of it as the last chance to take his life back. Altaf knew it would be a difficult challenge, and there was a strong possibility that his injuries would prevent him from succeeding.

By the end his first 90 days, Altaf lost 40 pounds, cut his body fat by nearly 12 percent, and gained muscle in his arms, chest, and legs. Altaf’s wingspan increased, too. More importantly, he no longer has to take most of his sleep and depression medication. The physical and mental strength Altaf gained from P90X allowed him to take control of his life. He’s no longer depressed or anxious, his diabetes is under control, and his cholesterol and blood pressure are back down to normal levels. Altaf still has to use pain medication as needed, although the pain in his back has substantially decreased.

Now, Altaf has more energy than his kids. Friends and family members are extremely proud of his accomplishment, and a bunch of them are looking into P90X for themselves. He’s back and loving it! Every aspect of Altaf’s life has changed for the better. It was a long three months of sacrifice and hard work, but the rewards are immense.

Kellend Brookover, Male, Age 19

Kellend was a heavy kid growing up. Faced with constant ostracism from peers, his parents assured him that it was perfectly natural – as he was growing, he was gaining weight. When that explanation was no longer good enough for Kellend, he became a vegetarian, although he added fish to his diet for more protein after several years. A diet rich in fish sounds exceptionally healthy; however, seeing the way Kellend was eating, his diet was anything but healthy. Besides fish, ice cream, chips, cheese, and empty carbohydrates made frequent appearances on Kellend’s plate. In high school, he started drinking alcohol regularly to fit in.

Kellend honestly thought that he could reverse the effects of a drunken night out in the weight room the next day. It was clear that he had a serious problem when he couldn’t look at himself in the mirror without feeling disgusted.

Initially, Kellend looked toward weight training to change his lifestyle, and he slowly became obsessed with how much weight he could lift. That dangerously misguided approach led Kellend to reach 268 pounds. His football and wrestling coaches were thrilled, but Kellend saw the error of his ways.

Eating correctly became his new focus, and Kellend quickly lost an enormous amount of weight.

Unfortunately, the weight loss left him feeling weak, causing him to relapse. Finally, late one night, Kellend found the answer.

While flipping channels, Kellend saw a guy twice his age doing pull-ups, making them look virtually effortless. Kellend continued to watch in awe. It was an infomercial for P90X. Kellend understood the importance of variety, and not only did this program have variety, everything was so intense and organized. Kellend saved up his money, bought the required equipment, and ordered P90X. From day one, he couldn’t believe how much Tony could do without breaking a sweat. It almost felt like Tony was rubbing it in, but Kellend didn’t care. He had to keep up. He had to “Bring It.”

Today, Kellend is 35 pounds lighter, and for the first time in his life, he’s comfortable with his body. In fact, he’s more confident than ever before, and he has no problem taking risks or meeting new people. Even talking to girls is easy now. Kellend hasn’t reached his goals just yet, though. He’s going to keep “Pushing Play,” so watch out, Tony!

Kellend wants to get in even better shape than you are. Kellend loves how it feels to live a healthy lifestyle, and he wants to pay it forward. Currently a dietetics major in college, Kellend plans to become a nutritionist to help others change their bodies and change their lives.

Nick Baker, Male, Age 26

Nicknamed “The Lunchbox” in grade school, Nick was always a big guy. He was renowned among friends for being willing to eat massive quantities of food. Even though Nick was overweight, he was active – competing in high school track and field events and playing football in college until injuries sidelined him. After football, Nick turned to martial arts for a disciplined workout. From there, he began competing as a 260- to 280-pound heavyweight in mixed martial arts.

After starting a full-time job, Nick began making excuses for why he couldn’t get to the gym. As the months went by, he spent more time on the couch and less time with his wife. Nick’s diet was another key problem. Eating fast food and quick fixes never truly filled him up.

As Nick’s weight climbed up toward 300 pounds, he started to think about his future. Nick wanted to live a long, healthy life and raise a family. He knew that, with his inactive, overindulgent lifestyle, he has headed down the wrong path. Enough was enough. Nick wanted to look and feel good again. That’s when he saw an infomercial for Power 90.

The program caught Nick’s eye because of the unique exercises and the real-life success stories. Exercising to a DVD was especially suitable for him, since he would be able to squeeze in workouts early in the morning, at lunchtime, or after work. At this point, Nick was not only busy with a full-time job, he was also working toward his MBA degree, so he needed the accountability he got from the WOWY community and his Coach to stay on track.

The workouts were tough at first. Nick didn’t have nearly the stamina he once had, but he loved how challenging Power 90 was. Besides, Nick couldn’t let an old guy like Tony Horton beat him, so he had to work as hard as he could to finish every workout. More than simply being out of shape, Nick didn’t really know how to eat in moderation or even eat the right foods in the first place. He used advice from the program, recipes from Thin Kitchen, and Beachbody supplements to change his diet.

After 350 days of Pushing Play, the new Nick looks more like “The Washboard” than “The Lunchbox.” He has lost 71 pounds since day one. Many of his old acquaintances hardly recognize him anymore. Nick’s wife certainly thinks he looks amazing. Nick has since moved on to challenge himself with P90X, and after seeing how his life has changed, Nick’s wife has started Yoga Booty Ballet. If he could do this with his busy schedule, then anyone could. Nick is living proof that we all have the time to work out and transform our lives.

Derek Wheatley, Male, Age 26

Derek always wanted to have a flat stomach and to feel confident while being shirtless. Derek was in good shape for years when he competed in motocross races until injuries sidelined him, forcing him to take a desk job. That’s when things started to go downhill. He would come home exhausted after a long commute, and all he wanted to do was sit down on the couch. He barely had the energy to play when his son came roaring into the living room.

When Derek finally thought about it, he realized that he was drained, yet he didn’t do anything physical all day. From that point, Derek started to notice that his clothes were fitting too tightly, and his weight reached the 200-pound mark -25 pounds heavier than his competition/riding weight. Derek knew he had a problem, and he was afraid of where it could lead him.

An Ab Ripper X video was sitting on the kitchen counter when Derek got home one night. After watching the P90X infomercial, he told his wife all about the program. Unlike other workout programs on TV, these were real people doing real exercises, working hard, and seeing amazing results. She had borrowed it from a neighbor for Derek to try.

After his first workout, he was stunned to find out that he couldn’t complete more than a few of the exercises. It was time to get back in shape, so Derek ordered a P90X program for himself. It would prove to be one of the best decisions he ever made.

Starting the program was a bit of a roller-coaster ride. Initially, Derek was overwhelmed by the length and intensity of the workouts. He found himself giving up before he even finished half of each workout, and he was on the verge of quitting entirely. That was until he found the motivation he needed from his Beachbody Coach, Josh. He told Derek to forget the excuses and leave them behind. Full of renewed motivation, Derek jumped in headfirst and decided to prove to himself that he had what it took to eat right, keep Pushing Play, and complete P90X.

Losing 25 pounds is fantastic by itself, but Derek’s total body transformation came with even more benefits. Now, when the alarm goes off in the morning, Derek jumps out of bed instead of reaching for the snooze button, and he comes home ready to play with his son. Derek always wanted a flat stomach, and, after P90X, his stomach is ripped. He even looks great without a shirt on and feels better now than when he was racing motocross. Eager to help others transform their bodies and lives, Derek has become a Beachbody Coach. If you need motivation, Derek is ready to get you in gear.

If you were inspired by the P90X testimonials, the ones below are just as touching.

It is amazing to read the stories that people have with weight loss. When you are overweight or obese, and do something to completely change your life, your whole world changes.

Cathy Carini, Female, Age 43

Cathy’s story begins when she was in her 20s, and everything was perfect. As a passionate elementary school teacher, she was happily married to the man she loved, and they were ready to start a family.

Suddenly, her life started to unravel. Cathy’s husband became terminally ill, and she spent almost all of her time outside of the classroom by his side. A second crushing blow struck her while she was expecting her first baby; she suffered an ectopic pregnancy. She needed to be hospitalized, and her dream of having a child with her husband was shattered.

Cathy’s husband passed away just before their 6th wedding anniversary, and she was understandably devastated. He promised her that once he was gone, he would find great guys and send them her way. Even though she never believed it would happen, Cathy developed a friendship that blossomed into a romance with a man she would later marry.

Because of Cathy’s age, she felt that she was too old to have children and start a family—until she found out she was pregnant. At age 37, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl, and she added a baby boy to the family at age 40.

The pregnancies severely impacted Cathy’s body; she gained 50 pounds with her daughter and nearly 70 pounds with her son. She knew she had to do something to lose weight and get healthy, but with young kids to raise, she didn’t have time to go the gym. Cathy and a coworker decided to start a weight loss challenge amongst the faculty at her school. Weekly weigh-ins kept everyone motivated and on track. Cathy was able to reach her goal by simply improving her diet, but she wasn’t ready to stop there.

Cathy’s good friend and former student teacher had been encouraging her for years to try Power 90. She knew Cathy would love it, especially the boxing portion. At first, Cathy wasn’t sure she could exercise at home, but she knew she wasn’t getting to the gym. She took her friend’s advice and ordered Power 90. The first time she worked out with the program, she became hooked and wanted to Keep Pushing Play. Cathy followed the moves easily, found the workout to be fun and fast paced, and couldn’t get enough of the boxing. She could feel herself getting stronger every day. Cathy has since raised the bar for herself, adding P90X into the mix.

With little kids, a major challenge for her is finding free time to work out. Cathy wakes up early every morning and logs onto WOWY while the rest of the family’s still sound asleep. Although it sounds grueling, the support she gets from WOWY and the energy she has from Power 90 and P90X is more than enough to get her out of bed. The weight from her pregnancies has been replaced by muscle definition, and she is practically bursting with energy.

Cathy is 44 years young and has just 22 percent body fat. Everyone she knows is amazed at her transformation, and she is proud to be setting a great example for her kids and students. Her husband, well, just can’t believe how hot she looks.

Sabrina Dunham, Female, Age 27

Weighing almost 200 pounds at the age of 12, Sabrina became a yo-yo dieter. She would lose weight and then gain it all back again. When she met her husband-to-be, she was at a thin point. But then, after their wedding, she gained 50 pounds in six months. She was stressed from leaving her home of country of Canada, the loss of her grandfather, and being so far from her family, and she took it out on herself.

She sums it up best when she says, “I let circumstances and emotion dictate how I treated my body.” With the help of her mother-in-law and her husband, Sabrina realized it was time to make a change. She committed to Turbo Jam and eating healthily, and lost 85 pounds! She now feels great, like she can take on the world! She is now starting Power 90® and is looking forward to getting ripped!

Since winning, Sabrina has moved up to P90X and is using it to get even leaner. The main obstacle she’s had to overcome has revolved around dealing with her fibromyalgia, a disease that can cause constant pain and discomfort. Some days it’s harder to work out than others but she knows that working out will ultimately make her feel better. Sabrina says that since getting in shape, she’s felt a lot less pain from her condition.

Camille Lusk, Female, Age 39

Just over a decade ago, Cammie Lusk was very active—playing sports and enjoying life. But it changed almost overnight, when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of multiple sclerosis. M.S., according to the Mayo Clinic, is an autoimmune disease that attacks the nervous system, and for Cammie, only 28 at the time, it was absolutely devastating.

“Within a week, I couldn’t lift my leg. I couldn’t walk. They told me I would get to a point where my husband wouldn’t be able to take care of me anymore—that I wouldn’t be able to be around my kids.”

As her condition worsened, Cammie couldn’t take care of herself or her kids. Chemotherapy slowed her digestion to a halt, and she virtually stopped eating. She felt like a burden on her family, and slipped into depression.

“It got so bad that I thought they would be better off without me, because I was such a burden to them.”

But a slow change took place when Cammie’s husband Dan got involved with Beachbody. He started P90X and so did their three boys. Cammie wanted in.

“I wanted to start working out so that I could be the wife and the mom that my kids and my husband deserved. . . . I wanted to prove to myself that my disease does not define who I am or what I can do.”

Researching different workout techniques and reaching out to P90X creator Tony Horton for help, Dan devised a set of modified workouts Cammie could do from her wheelchair.

“The one we had to concentrate on the most was the cardio program. . . . If they were showing a front kick, I did a punch. If they showed a sidekick, I did a high sword.

“P90X gave me strength. It gave me hope. It gave me power. . . . I started believing that I could once again be the person I was before multiple sclerosis.”

With Shakeology and modified workouts, Cammie has made major progress. Her leg strength has increased, and she can now ride a stationary bike—something she hasn’t been able to do in more than 10 years.

“If I can do that, if I can do P90X, if I can make my legs work to ride a bike, there is hope that I can walk again.”

She’s dropped 70 pounds and cut her body fat from an unhealthy 35 percent to a healthy 20 percent. She says she’s no longer embarrassed to wear tank tops and buys jeans even smaller than the ones she wore in high school.

Julie Filter, Female, Age 25

“The truth is, I had no idea how big I was.” That statement came from 25-year-old Julie Filter. Buying clothes was a nightmare.

“I would leave absolutely crying because I couldn’t get pants on me. I started realizing, ‘Wow, it’s not the clothes that are fitting poorly, or because they’re made too small; it’s because I’m so big.’

“My husband did work out, but I didn’t work out with him because I was so insecure and self-conscious.”
Sick of feeling so uncomfortable in her own skin, Julie became motivated to do something about it by a weight loss television program. The couple had ordered P90X a year earlier but wasn’t committed to it. This time was different. They dusted off the DVDs and got started. But it was hard—too hard, in fact. Julie needed to start with something else.

“I got on the Beachbody Web site and looked up Power 90. I really liked what I saw. The people in the success stories were just like me. They were overweight, obese, or average and getting to a very healthy standard.”

She loved the Power 90 workout but struggled with finding the right amount of food to eat. Julie was nursing her daughter but couldn’t quite find the balance. Following the nutrition guide, and now really paying attention to what she ate, Julie realized she was skipping meals, and that was a problem.

“The way that I found success in getting my eating habitual was to use the alarm on my phone. I would set it to remind me to eat every 2.5 to 3 hours. Within a couple of weeks I didn’t need the alarm anymore because my body was effectively telling me that I was hungry and that it was time to eat.”

She plowed through Power 90, and then ChaLEAN Extreme®. After dropping 40 pounds, she knew she was ready for P90X.

“It was a very intimidating program to me before, but now that I’m doing it, it’s not as difficult as it once was. It’s wonderful to know that my body is now capable of doing these great things that I didn’t think that I would be capable of doing . . . ever.”

Julie now weighs less than her pre-pregnancy size and says she looks better than she did in high school. She credits her husband Mark, who is also her Beachbody Coach, with helping her through her transformation process. And the process continues. Julie is still in the midst of her body transformation but intends to “Bring It” daily with P90X.

Jennifer Lawler, Female, Age 37

While out shopping with her kids one afternoon, Jennifer was shocked when she saw her reflection in a showroom window. “When did I get this fat?” she asked herself.

In this brief moment she realized that she’d lost control of her health and life. Jennifer wanted to be the perfect role model for her six children but didn’t even have the energy to keep up with them. She was depressed and embarrassed. Not wanting to leave the house, she rarely spent time with friends and family. When she did go on a cruise with her family, Jennifer didn’t get into a bathing suit or tan on the sun deck, things she would normally enjoy, and instead wound up sleeping away most of the trip in her room.

Jennifer was saddened when she noticed that her kids were picking up on her unhealthy habits. She knew it was time to make a change but, like so many others, she was afraid and didn’t know where to start. Then, in June, she saw an infomercial for P90X and was instantly drawn to it. Tony Horton made so much sense to Jennifer that she ordered the program right away.

When Jennifer first started P90X she could only do two push-ups. Now she can do over 40! Having six children made it tough for her to work out every day and eat right, but she made a commitment and stuck with it every day. She says that some days she’d have to get up early or stay up late to fit her workouts in, but ultimately it was always worth it.

Since starting P90X, Jennifer has gone from a size 14 down to an 8 and her waist has decreased from 40 inches to 31 inches. She’s happy to report that upon watching their mother transform, her kids began to get interested in living a healthier lifestyle too. Her son now orders healthier food at lunch and drinks more water than soda. Watching her children make changes in their own lives has proven to be the greatest reward for Jennifer. Recently, she’s become a Coach and is looking forward to helping people feel as good as she does.

Makeisha Lee Female 32

Makeisha grew up slim and confident, staying in amazing shape while touring the country as a modern dancer.

Then, everything changed. On her 17th birthday, Makeisha lost her father to ill health. For all of Makeisha’s life, her father, a constant source of encouragement, always made her feel good about herself. Who, Makeisha wondered, could fill that enormous void? Who would make her feel strong, confident, and successful?

Soon after her father’s death, Makeisha suffered another devastating loss when her grandmother suddenly passed away. Her woes only grew deeper when her husband, the father of her four children, started to become more and more emotionally abusive. Makeisha’s only refuge was eating, and it soon transformed her once lean dancer’s body into what she describes as a blimp weighing nearly 200 pounds.

Makeisha finally got the courage to leave her husband and move across the country to start a new life with her children. They had nothing. Living out of her car and in and out of cheap motels, Makeisha and her children relied on shelters and the occasional voucher for food—that is, food that was rarely nutritionally balanced.

Eventually, she was able to find work and begin rebuilding her life. She even met a wonderful, new man. Shortly after getting remarried, Makeisha got pregnant and suffered a miscarriage. Subsequently, she delivered her fifth child. After her last pregnancy, for the first time, she took a rational look at her weight and self-destructive lifestyle. All of the women in Makeisha’s family were seriously obese. The time to make a change—to break the mold—was long overdue, and Makeisha finally had stability in her life. She was determined to get back in shape and just so happened to have a business partner who was a Beachbody Coach.

At first, Makeisha was skeptical about trying Turbo Jam and Power 90, but working out at home is perfect for a nursing mother. In just a few weeks, she saw results, which encouraged her to keep Pushing Play. Keeping track of her diet, workouts, and feelings in a daily journal helped Makeisha stay on track while juggling a large family and a busy job.

After 65 days of Turbo Jam and Power 90, Makeisha lost 40 pounds and dropped down six dress sizes. She also gained 1-1/2 pounds of lean muscle. Makeisha feels stronger and more attractive than ever. She’s even got her children working out, and she can see the results in every part of their lives. To help motivate others through her experiences, Makeisha is starting a weight loss support group for women in her community—plus she writes about her experiences daily.

Melissa Thompson, Female, Age 30

“I hired a personal trainer and got zero results.” That’s what happened when 31-year-old Melissa Thompson first tried to lose weight. She was over 200 pounds, had zero energy, and all she ever wanted to do was lay on the couch.

“I laid on the couch, day after day, watching TV, snacking, eating—not really feeling like I could do anything. I was searching for the reason why I didn’t have the energy and the reason why I didn’t feel good.”

With five children, having no energy to engage with them left Melissa extremely unhappy. Not wanting to admit her weight was the cause of so much unhappiness, Melissa sought the help of a doctor.

“I sat down with my doctors, face to face, trying to figure out what medication to get on, when they looked me in the eyes and said, ‘Until you get your mind right, there’s no amount of medication that we could ever put you on that’ll make it right.’”

She thought if she didn’t take control of her weight, and thus take control of her life, she wouldn’t be around to care for her children. “That” was Melissa’s turning point.

“I don’t even know who took care of the kids during the day. I was literally numb to everything around me except for what show came on next. That was my turning point. It was the moment when I said, ‘I can take control of my own life.’”

She joined a workout group at her church, not realizing that the class was doing Turbo Jam. She immediately loved the energetic, fun workout, because it was easy to pick up.

“Chalene was so full of energy, and her cast was so fun! I remember doing other workouts at home, and it’d be the same thing—day after day after day—so when I knew there was not only one Turbo Jam, but there’s a whole line of ‘em, and every day I could do something different. I knew that it was really something for me.”
Now a Chalene Johnson fan, when Beachbody launched ChaLEAN Extreme, Melissa started working out to that. To hold herself accountable, she utilized her Beachbody Coach, Charline Bucher, and worked out daily.

“Not only am I fitter, I’m healthier, but I don’t have that depression any more. I’m happier than I’ve ever been . . . I’m full of energy, my marriage is happy and fulfilled because I’m happy and fulfilled. A year ago I never would have thought that fitness would be the key to me being so happy.”

Melissa has dropped 60 pounds and cut her body fat almost in half. But she says her transformation is much more than physical; it’s also the way she mentally feels about herself. Because of Charline’s inspiration and motivation, Melissa has become a Beachbody Coach so she can help others as much as Charline has helped her.

Phyllis Stewart, Female, Age 50

It is so hard for me to put into words the way I feel about myself these days. Healthy, strong, proud, and happy can start to sum it up. My life has changed so much since I first found Power90 almost 5 years ago.
When my doctor told me I was severely obese I knew I had to take control of my life. I wondered how in the world I got this way. I wasn’t one to sit around with a bag of chips or cookies in my hand. So how did I get this over weight?

Tony told us that we need to start a food journal, and log everything that we eat. I soon saw WHY I was severely obese! I just didn’t realize until I started reading food labels and logging my food just how much I was getting each day. Add that up with zero exercise and I got my answer.

Sadly, my mother had her first heart attack when she was 42; I eventually lost her to heart disease when she was only 68. I had been a smoker of 30 plus years and quit in 2002. My family was growing and I was blessed with beautiful grandkids. I wanted to be healthy so I could live to see them grow and be a big part of their lives.

I started my journey with Power90 then Power Half Hour, and Turbo Jam. I lost a total of 73 pounds. Into my first year of working out I injured my foot. I had developed a bad case of Plantar Fasciitis. It took 1 year of trying different treatments before I got over it. I didn’t let it stop me on my mission to lose weight though, I modified my workouts and even worked out with a cast on my leg.

Since winning the contest I have completed a round of P90X. I bought the pull-up bar and Tony’s push-up stands. I have also completed a round of the Master Series and then did my own hybrid mix of the new awesome 10 minute trainer, the X, Master Series, Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs. I recently received the XPlus and I love the intensity of the workouts!

I have lost an additional 4 pounds and have replaced fat with muscle. I have more muscle definition in my arms and chest. My body is so much stronger now. I see the results when I am hiking, not only in my muscles being stronger, but my heart and lungs as well.

I take Tony’s advice and eat lean proteins, veggies, fruits and whole grains. My supplements include Activit, Performance Formula, Core Omega 3, the Recovery drink and the delicious Chocolate Protein Powder that I have every morning for breakfast.

I am very proud of what I have accomplished. Losing 77 pounds was hard, but maintaining it was even harder! My goal is to continue with Beachbody and to pay it forward.

Audrey Nichelson, Female, Age 43

Growing up on a hog farm, Audrey had a very active life. When she and her siblings weren’t doing chores, they were playing outside, riding bikes, or sledding during the winter. As a young girl, weight was the last thing she thought about, but as she entered the fourth grade, things began to change. All of a sudden, she noticed that there were girls skinnier than her; in fact, to this day, she still remembers their names. Even at the time, she knew she was too young to start worrying about her weight and what she ate. Nonetheless, she began obsessing over food, setting the stage for a problem that would follow her for many years to come.

In high school, Audrey was always self-conscious about the way she looked. Her low self-esteem kept her from partaking in many activities that most people enjoyed. During this time, she worked at a drugstore and had unlimited access to all the new diet pills and crash diet programs that came through her store. Not surprisingly, these quick fixes never worked, and the battle with her weight continued. After getting married at age 20, she started gaining more weight, and although she’d diet and exercise from time to time, she was never able to take off all the weight that she had put on.

Years later, Audrey suddenly began losing weight without even trying. She was eating whatever she wanted, and the weight just kept falling off. For a while, she thought the “metabolism fairy” had paid her a visit, but as her health deteriorated, it became clear that there was a problem. Shortly thereafter, she was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder known as Graves’ Disease. Thankfully, her thyroid didn’t need to be removed, and her condition went into remission. She had been eating whatever she wanted; now that she was on medication, she needed to start getting healthier—but it wasn’t easy.

Being diagnosed with Graves’ Disease made Audrey seriously reevaluate her lifestyle, but it wasn’t until a trip to the Caicos Islands that she had a real turning point. Upon arriving at the resort, Audrey and her husband, Scott, were anxious to get into the water; so they grabbed their swimsuits. The only problem was that Audrey’s swimsuit didn’t fit anymore. She was mortified. They went to the gift store to find a new one, but nothing there seemed to be in her size. While trying on some board shorts in the dressing room, Audrey burst into tears. She was supposed to be having fun on a tropical island, but instead she was sobbing in a dressing room because her clothes didn’t fit.

She knew right then and there that something had to change.

After returning home, Audrey was introduced to Slim in 6. She went to the Beachbody Web site and decided to order Power 90. The program arrived, and she liked it but didn’t fully commit herself to the program until last year. In 2007, she saw vacation pictures of herself that were less than flattering. Annoyed because she thought she had been doing well with dieting and exercise, she realized that she wasn’t making the sort of progress she wanted.

Audrey decided to take advantage of the coaching features offered by Beachbody and began talking to Beachbody Coach Doug Couch. They tweaked her program, and she kept working at it. The tweaks they made worked, and her body began transforming. Weight kept falling off, and muscles kept appearing out of nowhere. To date, she’s lost 33 pounds and 12 percent body fat. On a recent trip to Jamaica, Audrey wore a bikini the whole time and even went scuba diving—something she would never have done prior to her transformation. She feels better than she ever has and looks forward to new bikinis and beaches in the future.

So you want to get into P90X, but aren’t ready to make the plunge just yet? Do you think it’s just another cheesy infomercial?

Think again!

Thousands of people have used P90X to lose weight. Beachbody, the company behind P90X, has chronicled the weight loss success stories of hundreds of people that have used their products to get real weight loss results.

Below are just some of these stories.

Please keep in mind that these are sourced directly from the Beachbody website, and are not fabricated in any way. Beachbody has testimonials from all of its products, so we only included the people who used P90X during their weight loss journey. Some people did the P90X program just once, and others continue to do it multiple times a year. (P90X is great for staying in shape too, not just losing weight.)

Start getting inspired! These real people and their real stories are pretty amazing!

Dhalma Bean, Female, Age 29

Dhalma Bean had always been in good shape. The former Marine even considered herself a typical gym rat, losing the baby weight from her first child almost immediately. But her second child arrived seven years later, and when Dhalma went back to her gym routine, she no longer got the results she wanted.

It wasn’t just the lack of fitness results that frustrated and depressed her; Dhalma was putting on weight, too.

Then catching a P90X infomercial, she thought Tony Horton’s Muscle Confusion workout seemed intense and a little “crazy,” but the former Marine knew that’s exactly what she needed.

“A girl can do pull-ups. Now, when I first started doing P90X, this is my version of what a pull-up was . . . and that is about it. I couldn’t even barely move my elbows to get my body over the bar. I needed the chair the whole way . . . but now it’s a little bit different. So watch out now. I’m not like busting out a 100, but I can still get my body up.”

With P90X and proper eating habits, the 29-year-old cut 21 pounds and six inches from her waist. She’s now started running 10K’s.

Kathryn Robinson, Female, Age 29

Kathryn was never overweight as a child, but 29 years of bad habits finally caught up with her, taking a serious toll on her health and appearance. Chronically only eating one meal a day, she slowed her metabolism down to a crawl. An addiction to fast food made Kathryn’s diet even more dangerous. Years of relying on the drive-thru for her daily meal led Kathryn to top 250 pounds on the scale. After having a C-section and an operation to remove her gallbladder, Kathryn knew she had to start eating better.

Initially, she thought that cutting back on fast food would be enough. Sure, Kathryn was a size 14, but she felt like the average American woman. It wasn’t until her daughter got older that she realized just how damaging her lifestyle really was. The “aha” moment came when Kathryn handed her daughter a french fry.

What on earth was she doing? Kathryn lived on fast food for years, and now she was about to send her daughter down that same road. It was time for a serious change. Kathryn was going to get healthy and set the right example for her daughter.

A bodybuilder friend and Beachbody Coach told Kathryn all about P90X. She read reviews online, and she was excited to try it. Kathryn especially liked it when people complained about the program being too hard. She was looking for a challenge, and more importantly, she was looking for results.

From day one, Kathryn started losing weight and never looked back.

It was surprisingly difficult for Kathryn to find motivation from friends and family members. Many people who had known her for years told her that she was fine the way she was. Fortunately, Kathryn’s Coach is always checking up and encouraging her. He genuinely cares about her progress.

After 90 days of Pushing Play, Kathryn has dropped nearly 100 pounds. In addition to using P90X, she now eats small, healthy meals several times a day. Kathryn is already thin; now she wants to build muscle. Why can’t you have six-pack abs after having a C-section? Kathryn is getting there, and she’s living proof that anyone can make a total body transformation.

Suzy Stauffer, Female, Age 44

Before her total body transformation, Suzy was ready to give up on herself. Like other moms, she believed that she had already given up on her career, interests, dreams, and body. On most days, Suzy felt trapped at home and was almost ready to walk out on her family. After suffering postpartum depression following the births of all three of her children, Suzy was afraid that she didn’t enjoy being a mother. It was then, during her postpartum depression, when she reached 175 pounds.

An eating disorder that Suzy struggled with throughout her life became so bad that she was making herself sick. She would go all day without eating and then binge eat at dinner. To combat her poor eating habits, Suzy would go to the gym as often as possible, but she never saw results. Eventually, she decided that sitting around, feeling miserable, and wanting to give up weren’t the ways she wanted to spend the rest of her life. It was time to find a way to be healthy.

For 3 months, Suzy watched the infomercial for P90X whenever she saw it on TV. Suzy wanted to lose weight and get healthy, but P90X looked like it could deliver more. Is attaining six-pack abs possible after having three kids? Suzy didn’t think so before, but maybe, she thought, with this program, she could have the body she fantasized about. She finally picked up the phone and placed the order.

It’s not easy to find time to “Bring It” when you’re a full-time mom. It’s even more difficult when you also have to overcome fear and self-doubt. Each day Suzy decided to Push Play, she worked on trusting the process and having faith in the program. After 60 days, she was ready to quit. Sixty days, she figured, is farther than most people get.

Fortunately, part of her wasn’t willing to stop. Had Suzy given in, she would have missed the best part—her nonstop energy and six-pack abs.

After 300 days, Suzy has lost 10 percent body fat and several inches off her chest, waist, and hips. Her body has changed completely. For the first time in her life, Suzy has a healthy relationship with food, and she feels great about her body. Wearing a bikini at age 44 is pretty exciting—so is completing a half marathon. Anything is possible with P90X along with support from WOWY and the Message Boards.

Suzanne DiTommaso, Female, Age 40

Making her way to the gym about three times a week, Suzanne DiTommaso was never really healthy. She smoked and ate what she wanted. When Suzanne finally quit smoking, the weight came on, as did a pain in her chest caused by acid reflux.

“When you have a lot of weight in your belly and esophagus region, it will cause this reflux. It goes up your throat and up your chest, and it mimics cardiac symptoms.”

Now, on top of feeling unhealthy, run-down, and needing to take acid blockers, her 40th birthday was looming. Suzanne had a family, and she worried about their well-being should something happen to her. The gym membership she was paying for wasn’t working for her or her husband.

“There was something missing in the formula at the gym. We didn’t have anybody to help us. We didn’t have anybody to ask questions. I had seen the P90X infomercial several times, and it looked like something that we could do together.”

They loved that P90X was a complete plan, with a workout and nutrition guide. Following the guide, Suzanne cleaned out all the junk in their kitchen.

“You’ve got your workouts and your nutrition guide. I think all the time about people who say, ‘Well yeah if I had a celebrity trainer who would tell me how to work out and tell me how to eat then I could look like celebrities too.’ But here you have it all.”

Her biggest obstacle was when she would work out. She had a full-time job and a child. But when she decided to order P90X, she made a commitment, recognizing that if it was going to work, she would have to make some sacrifices. That meant working out at 4:30 AM.

“We got up and did the first workout, and it was a little comical, but we were serious about what we were doing, and we were serious about our commitment to each other and our commitment to the program. I remember it being day three, day four, day five, and thinking, ‘We’re doing this. We can do this.’”

The workout was tough, but by days eight and nine, Suzanne noticed changes in her body. Then she hit day 30.

“I saw an amazing difference in my clothes. By day 90, forget it, I couldn’t wear my clothes. That’s a whole new problem that you might encounter if you do P90X. You’re going to need new clothes, but that’s a good problem to have.”

She needed new clothes, but what she didn’t need was her acid reflux medication. Now, she’s completely free from the pain in her chest and has dropped 15 percent of her body fat. She’s often complimented by people who tell her she looks 10 years younger.

Lina Hess, Female, Age 34

Growing up, Lina always loved food. As an active kid, competing in swimming and diving in high school, she never had to worry about what she ate. Once she started cooking for herself, and later for her family, nutrition became more important. Although Lina was making healthy meals, she never understood proper portion size.

As her family grew, Lina didn’t make time to exercise, and she watched her body balloon from a size 6 to beyond a size 14. Over the next 12 years, she tried walking, swimming, cycling, and even several home exercise videos, but she always found herself in the same predicament. It seemed no matter what Lina did, the weight was not coming off. She just decided to accept it.

During Lina’s last pregnancy, she couldn’t bear to look at the numbers on the scale after she weighed in at 198 pounds. The real wake-up call came when a woman asked if Lina were having quadruplets. By the time she gave birth, Lina weighed more than 200 pounds.

Her transformation finally began after her husband started P90X. He was working out and learning more about nutrition and portion sizes. Over his first 90 days, he lost a bunch of weight and got into the best shape of his life. Gradually, the whole family’s eating habits began to change. Lina knew that she needed to get healthy for herself and her children. Her husband Pushed Play, and now it was time for her to do the same.

Because Lina was nursing, she was concerned about dropping weight too quickly. She started out by following the nutrition plan that came with P90X. Slowly, the weight began to come off, and Lina started to see results.

Then she decided to “Bring It” and began doing the workouts with her husband. Lina maintained a safe weight loss that allowed her to continue nursing while achieving fantastic results. She remembers one day in particular when her son hugged her and said, “Ouch, what is that?” Well, he had hugged Lina around her waist and bumped into her hipbone—something that had been hiding under layers of fat for pretty much his entire life.

Another exciting change that Lina saw was how her children began to view their health. Her daughter once turned down eating pizza because she wanted to “eat something healthy, instead.” Her oldest loves to have hot lunch at school, but only on salad bar days. I guess it has rubbed off on everybody, and they’re all in the best shape of their lives! Lina’s family goal is to work together and maintain a healthy, fit lifestyle, and, of course, Bring It!

Cyndi Johnson, Female, Age 40

Wanting to lose weight for her wedding, Cyndi dusted off Thin Thighs Guaranteed! and Great Buns Guaranteed!, finding the results better than going to the gym each day, which became expensive and inconvenient. After her wedding, Cyndi became pregnant with her fourth child and gained back the weight she had worked so hard to lose.

Working out with Power 90, Cyndi kicked it into high gear and began to see results. However, her life got hectic and her workouts fell to the wayside. About a year later, she ordered Slim in 6, and then committed again to Power 90, along with a healthy diet. With the support of the WOWY® community, Cyndi gained self-confidence and is now able to fit into the leopard bikini she longed to wear. She’s also now an MDB coach. She plans a 60-mile walk for breast cancer in the future.

Jocelyn Dworakowski, Female, Age 27

Before Jocelyn began her transformation, she was depressed, overweight, and completely unhealthy.

In fact, she could hardly look at herself in the mirror anymore. Two pregnancies had taken a toll on her body, and she was finding it hard to bounce back. Low energy levels made taking care of her children extremely difficult.

Jocelyn napped every day, drank large amounts of soda, and smoked a pack or more of cigarettes a day. She could hardly function, let alone give her daughters the love and attention they deserved. And to top it all off, her relationship with her husband was struggling because of her unhappiness.

One day, while holding her youngest daughter, she looked into her eyes and just started crying. She knew that she needed to change her life right then and there. If she wanted to be there for her daughters, then she needed to take better care of herself first. She wanted both of her daughters and her husband to have the loving, fun, happy, and healthy mother and wife they deserved.

Jocelyn knew that a gym membership wasn’t right for a busy mother like her, and she preferred to work out in the convenience of her own home. So when she saw an infomercial for Power 90, she was intrigued. Looking at the Team Beachbody Web site, she learned more about the different Beachbody fitness programs; visited the Message Boards and saw the amazing online community; and realized that this was something she could do, especially with the extra support.

After getting results with Power 90, Jocelyn ordered Turbo Jam because it looked like so much fun. Since the results kept coming, she soon decided to give P90X a try.

Over the course of her transformation, Jocelyn has tackled some big obstacles. From quitting smoking and drinking soda to changing her diet, she’s met every challenge head on. Now, her life is unrecognizable compared to what it used to be. She’s lost a total of 85 pounds and 29 percent body fat.

Finally, in the best shape of her life, Jocelyn looks forward to showering her kids with all the love and attention they can handle. With her feelings of depression nowhere in sight, she and her family now enjoy their time together so much more than she ever thought possible.

Michelle Draper, Female, Age 36

Visiting the doctor for a routine check-up, Michelle was shocked to see that the scales tipped at 196 pounds. The doctor told her she was obese. Somehow, 46 pounds had crept up on her.

She committed to Power 90 and lost 10 pounds in the first 30 days. With dedication and hard work, she continued to lose weight. However, she did not adhere to a healthy diet and the pounds began to catch up with her again. Michelle knew that she would have to make a lifestyle change.

With a second round of Power 90 and Power Half Hour, Michelle’s weight dropped to 150 pounds. Wanting to kick it up a notch, she started P90X and lost the last stubborn 20 pounds. Losing a total 56 pounds has empowered Michelle to take her life back.

Jill Ward, Female, Age 23

After her first pregnancy, Jill felt tired and out of shape. She felt like everyone was telling her that being out of shape and tired was a trade-off for being a good mother. After a late night of feeding, Jill came across an infomercial for Slim in 6, ordered it, and in just six weeks felt like she “started living again.”

She then completed Power 90 and lost over 50 pounds with both programs. Wanting to stay in shape with now three children, Jill, inspired by P90X transformation stories, took it to the next level. With a new sense of self-confidence, Jill has the energy to be a super mom.

Update: Jill has lost four more pounds. She is using heavier weights now for all of her workouts, and she has added more protein to her diet. Since she won in June, two members of her family passed away, and in July, Jill tore all of the muscles in her left leg while playing softball in the rain. In September, after six weeks of intense physical therapy, she finished a triathlon in honor of her lost loved ones.

Now, she’s two weeks into her third round of P90X and she’s loving it. “I’m going to do this for the rest of my life,” she says. Also, by going on family bike rides—pulling her kids behind her for extra weight—Jill manages to get a killer cardio workout, spend some quality time with the kids, and set a good example at the same time—way to multitask!

If there was ever an open-ended question, it is “How much weight can I lose doing P90X?”

The reason that this question is difficult to answer is because there are too many variables to consider. A 140lb female may not lose as much weight as a 300lb male, but all things considered, the female may have had more success with P90X than her counterpart.

How can you predict how much weight you’ll lose with P90X? You really can’t. You can look at other peoples success stories to get an estimate, but there is no way to know until you jump into P90X and do it.

Here are the variables that go into the weight loss equation.

Male or Female

Males and females have completely different body types. In general, females tend to have a higher body fat percentage than men. It’s unfortunate, but that is the way nature made it. This means that females will hold onto more fat on their bodies (as opposed to muscle), than men.

Consider a male and female with equal body fat percentages (20% for example). After a full 90 days on P90X, the male may end up at 10% body fat while the female may go down to 13%. Obviously there are a number of factors to consider, but if the end goal is a great, sexy body, the female can do it at a higher body fat percentage than the male.

Athletic or Sedentary

An athletic person with a history of exercise and good nutrition will not lose as much weight as a sedentary person with no experience. But for most athletes, whether they are active or have been in a slump, the goal is not losing just pounds. It’s about getting back in to “fighting” shape with P90X.

Whether the pounds come off or not is not important. Athletes want to condition their bodies for their sport. This means training with P90X to increase muscle and improve endurance.

A sedentary person is someone without major knowledge of being fit. Generally a sedentary person will be overweight or obese, and can lose a lot more weight than an athlete (because they have more to give.) Overweight and obese people can certainly lose a lot of weight with P90X, but the ultimate goal should be improvement in quality of life.

Body Type

Human beings fall into 3 major body types: endomorphs, ectomorphs, and mesomorphs. For a better understanding of the 3 types, see this article.

Depending on your body type, you may lose weight faster or slower than average. There are just some factors that are hereditary that we cannot change. Some people will have an easier time losing weight with P90X than others (everything else being equal.)

Diet and Nutrition

Your diet will be the key to weight loss on P90X. While most diets restrict calories or severely limit you to what you can eat, the P90X diet is designed for training hard. Without the proper nutrients in your body, you will not be able to commit to P90X 100%.

A person who sticks to the P90X diet 24/7 will perform much better than a person who follow the diet every other day and not on weekends or Tuesdays. When it comes to weight loss, diet will account for 70% of your results.

Intensity

The intensity of your workouts will play a big role in your weight loss. If you push yourself harder than normal, you will lose more weight simply because you are burning more calories.

If you are doing the exercises outlined in P90X half-assed, don’t expect serious weight loss. You may see improvements, but life-changing weight loss happens when you push yourself out of your comfort zone.

Determination

Do you have the willpower to get out of bed every morning and do P90X? Do you have the determination to say no to birthday cake at the office party? Or saying no to a handful of candy when your friend offers you some at the movies?

If you want to completely change your body with P90X, then you will need determination. You can’t skip workouts and you can’t slack on your diet. The small “lapses” in determination will add up over time and you will end up nowhere near your weight loss goals.

Focus on Body Fat Percentage

If you want to succeed on P90X, avoid the little things that will only make you crazy. This means weighing yourself every 2 hours to see if you lost weight.

Because of the intensity of the P90X program, most people, especially sedentary people, will lose fat and gain muscle. Muscle is more dense than fat and weighs more, so while you may be getting more fit, then scale may actually go up.

You can get discouraged focusing on the little things, even though you are actually making progress. Instead of focusing on the pounds, focus on body fat percentage. Because body fat percentage changes much more gradually than total weight, you only need to measure your body fat once a month. This means you can focus on what matters – doing the exercises and following the diet in P90X.

Focus on How You Feel

More important than anything else is how you feel. If you do not see results instantly, do not give up. Weight loss takes time and getting a great body takes even longer.

If you only lost 10lbs but feel 20 times better, doesn’t that make it worth it?

Your quality of life is more important than your weight or body fat percentage. Pounds and percentages are superficial units of measurement that shouldn’t affect your daily life.

Can you achieve your goal of finishing a marathon? Can you feel confident showing off your body at the local pool? Or is it something more rewarding like being able to take your children to the park every day?

You must always be thinking about your goals. Ask yourself, “How much can I improve my life?” rather than “How much weight can I lose with P90X?”

So you want to get in shape with P90X?

How do you know you’ll be man (or woman) enough to do one of the most difficult weight loss programs out there? P90X makes it simple by offering a free Fit Test that you can take at home before you buy P90X.

The P90X Fit Test is a series of exercises that you can do within a half hour to see if your body is ready to take on the P90X program. If you fail the Fit Test, it is recommended you start with another program that is easier to (such as Slim in 6 or the original Power 90 program)

Most people should be able to pass this test, unless they are grossly out of shape. But if you have the determination to do P90X, you can still do it even if you fail the test.

You can download the original P90X Fitness Test here (PDF). It is best to print it out because you can record everything on the print-out. We are just going to summarize the fit test for this post in our P90X series.

What You Need for the P90X Fit Test

Heart Rate Monitor – If you have one, great! It provides more accurate results, but you can check your heart rate by simply checking your pulse.

Body Fat Calipers – There are two types of body fat calipers – mechanical and digital. Typically, the digital ones are much easier to use but are not 100% accurate. You can also get your body fat measured for free at most gyms. If you are a member ask for one. If you are not, pretend you want to join the gym under the condition they check your body fat. You only need to measure it twice – before P90X and once after your 90 day cycle.

Tape Measure, Stop Watch or Timer, Towel – Everyone should have these.

Scale – If you don’t have one that is OK. You can get your weight checked once before P90X and once after. Go to a gym or your doctor’s office. It is a bad habit to check your weight every day. The longer you can delay checking your weight (once a week max), the better.

Pull-up Bar – These are fairly cheap at most sporting goods stores. The one sold on BeachBody.com is actually a pretty good one, as it allows various types of grip – which means you can hit more muscle groups but it is more expensive.

Before the Fit Test

You need a baseline reading of your heart rate before starting P90X, and throughout the program. Your heart is your engine, and knowing your heart rate gives you a good indication of your cardiovascular fitness.

Take your baseline heart rate as soon as you wake up. Don’t even get out of bed. Relax for minute, then record your heart rate. As each day passes on the P90X program, your heart rate should drop. If it goes up a few days in a row, you are either over training or getting sick.

If you do not have a monitor, you can take your pulse (on your neck or wrist) for 30 seconds. Multiply it by 2 to get your resting heart rate. If you do not pass this test, you are probably a zombie and should seek some brains to eat.

Starting the Test: Warm-Up

Before doing the Fit Test, get yourself warmed up. Stretch, then run in place, do jumping jacks, or run up and down steps. After a few minutes, you should have worked up a mild sweat and you will be good to go.

Fit Test 1 – Pull Ups

How to do a proper pull-up: Grasp the bar with your hands facing out (away from your body), and shoulder-width apart. Pull your body up until your chin reaches the bar. Do not jump up or cheat!

Pull-ups are actually one of the most difficult exercises for people to do. If you can only do half a pull-up or not even one, do not be discouraged. There are substitutes within the P90X program for pull-ups, and there is a good chance by the end of the program you will be able to do several pull-ups in a row.

P90X Minimum – 3 pulls up for males, 1 for females. (Once again, keep going with the Fit Test if you cannot do any pull-ups)

Fit Test 2 – Vertical Leap

Stand against the wall (shoulder to wall) and reach up with your hand (no tippy-toes!). Get somebody to record your height.

Then you want to stand a step away from the wall, and jump straight up – while trying to reach the highest possible point you can. Don’t run and jump. It is basically like going up for a jump ball in basketball. You can try as many times as you like to reach your highest maximum point.

Subtract that from the first height you recorded and you should have your vertical leap.

P90X Minimum – 5 inches for males, 3 inches for females.

Fit Test 3 – Push-ups

The most important thing with a push-up is to keep your back straight. If you are “snaking” around then it does not count.

Do the maximum number of push-ups you can until your body gives out.

P90X Minimum – 15 push-ups for males, 3 for females (or 15 push-ups from the knees)

Fit Test 4 – Toe Touch

This is a simple flexibility test.

Sit on your butt on the floor, legs out and together. Reach forward and try to touch your toe – without bending your knees. Measure the distance either beyond your toes, or the distance to your toes. You do not have to strain too hard. Do not attempt to give it your all just to touch your toes, especially if you are out of shape because you may injure something.

P90X Minimum – Males and females should be able to reach 6 inches from your toes.

Fit Test 5 – Wall Squat

This test isolates the strength in your leg muscles.

Lean on a wall, and work your way down until you are squatting down – back against the wall still. As soon as you get into this position, start your timer. Hold it for as long as possible. Breathe through the intital discomfort and hang in there. You will slowly slide down, and when your butt touches the floor stop your timer.

Your legs should be parallel to the floor when you begin, and your knees at a 90 degree angle.

P90X Minimum – Males and females should be able to do this for 1 minute.

Fit Test 6 – Bicep Curls

One of the core exercises for training the biceps. Choose a weight that you will feel comfortable with. This means a weight that you feel you can do several repetitions – about 10 or so. Generally, the heavier it is the better, but do use a huge weight that you can lift only a few times.

Proper form for the bicep curl means your arms are at your sides, and facing outwards. Curl the weight to your chest, and back down. This is one repetition. Do not rock back and forth, or use any other muscle besides your biceps. It is very easy to have bad form with this exercise – so focus on the contraction of your biceps only.

P90X Minimum – 10 curls with 20 lbs for males, and 10 curls of 8lbs for females.

Fit Test 7 – Ins and Outs

This exercise tests your abdominal strength. Sit on the floor with your feet in front of you and your knees bent. Your hands should be at your sides to support you.

Bring your knees towards your chest, and then extend them back out, without ever touching the floor. This is one repetition. Do it as many times as you can.

P90X Minimum – 25 reps for males and females.

Fit Test 8 – Heart Rate Maximizer

This is a test that measures your heart rate at peak and the minutes after you begin rest. Do jumping jacks for a steady 2 minutes. For the final 30 seconds, do them as fast as you can to maximize your heart rate.

You want to measure your heart rate immediately after, 1 minute after, 2 minutes after, 3 minutes after, and 4 minutes after.

There is no minimum for this exercise, but if you can complete the full 2 minutes and 30 second sprint, you are able to commit to P90X.

Final Thoughts on the P90X Fit Test

The P90X Fit Test gives you a good idea if you are healthy enough to commit to P90X. Because of the intensity of the P90X workout program, you need some sort of capability to, at the very least, perform the exercises for a minimum period of time.

Not everybody, especially those that are out-of-shape, will be able to dive head first into P90X. The first week is usually the hardest, but if you have the determination to continue, you will soon realize that your ability to do the P90X exercises increases week to week.

It’s no secret that P90X is helping thousands of people lose weight every day. P90X is a complete program designed to help beginners new to exercise, as well as athletes that already know their way around an exercise program.

P90X is a 90 day program that outlines an easy-to-follow diet of nutrient rich foods that provide the energy you need during your weight journey, but more importantly P90X incorporates a full workout program for burning fat and building muscle. If you stick to P90X for 90 days and do not look a lot better, then you are doing something wrong!

If you are overweight or even obese, you may be wondering if P90X will work for you. The answer of course, is yes, but let’s look at why.

If you want actual proof of overweight and obese indivuduals doing P90X, check out these P90X testimonials (and some P90X testimonials from women)

How Much Weight Can I Lose on P90X?

Being slightly overweight and being obese are two different things. You can measure how overweight or obese you are by using a Body Mass Index calculator. While BMI is not 100% accurate, it is a good general indicator of how much weight you need to lose to become “healthy.”

It is always difficult to estimate how much weight someone can lose on a weight loss and diet program such as P90X. A man’s body is different from a woman’s, and there are different body types that people fall into. Depending on your sex and body type, two people can weigh the same exact amount but one can be healthy and the other can be overweight. For example, a 6′2″ muscular man can weigh 220 lbs and be considered healthy, while a 5′1″ woman weighing 220 pounds can be considered overweight.

So what if you are 50, 100, or even 200 pounds over your “healthy weight?” Is it possible to use a weight loss program like P90X to see results?

As a matter of fact, we think P90X is one of the best programs available for losing a lot of weight fast when you are overweight or obese.

Why?

Because jumping head first into weight loss works much better than the “slow and steady” approach.

If you are someone that has struggled with weight throughout your whole life, you may have learned that doing things “easy” does not work with weight loss. Maybe you try eating less every day, or going for a walk, but over time you do not see the results you want.

If you want to completely “shock” your body into weight loss, then you need a program like P90X. P90X is broken down into three main parts, each consisting of 30 day sections. The first 30 days are to introduce you to proper diet and exercise, and each successive 30 days gets a little more difficult.

You will start seeing results with P90X almost immediately. The tough part is sticking to the program. Overweight and obese people may experience shortness of breath, or difficulty when starting out on P90X.

But that is OK. If you truly want to transform your body into something healthy, then you need to fight through the pains of starting P90X. When you se the pounds fall off of the scale, then you will want to blast through the remaining 90 days.

It is possible to lose 50 pounds or more in just one cycle of P90X, depending on your current weight. If you are severely obese, you maybe have to do P90X once or twice more to keep your weight loss going throughout the year. That said, it’s not uncommon for people who are already in shape to do P90X multiple times per year. You can only lose so much weight in 90 days.

Consult Your Doctor

Before jumping into P90X, you must consult your physician first. While we love the “No pain, no gain” approach at BetterBodyJournal, being severely overweight or obese leads to health complications that only your doctor can talk to you about.

This is a common question for people who want to lose weight in a short period of time, and have seen the great results from people who have completed the P90X program.

Do I have to be an athlete to see results? Can a 60 year old man or 18 year old woman lose weight on P90X? What if I never worked out before in my life?

The answer, of course, is Yes, you will lose weight doing P90X.

P90X is Designed to Work for Anyone

P90X incorporates 12+ DVDs of exercises that you can do at home, and a fantastic nutrition plan to get you to lose weight faster than you thought possible.

So what’s the catch?

You will need willpower and dedication.

There are so many products on the market that promise ridiculous results with little to no effort on your part. The truth is, none of these products work when you half-ass your weight loss goals. In fact, most weight loss products you see on TV do not work at all (or will not work if you stick to what they recommend you do – Just 6 minutes a day!)

The premise of P90X is amazingly simple. Burn calories and add muscle doing the workout plans provided. Follow the nutrition plan to consume less unhealthy calories and more healthy calories.

When you consume less calories than you burn you will lose weight. When you do it following the P90X program, you will lose a lot of weight faster. In its simplest form, weight loss is a math equation.

P90X is designed for beginners all the way through advanced users. Follow the P90X Fitness Guide to figure out how you will go through your P90X journey. Beginners will want to take it easy at first, and advanced users will want to jump into P90X at full-speed (in this case, “Doubles” speed).

Do You Want a Better Body in 90 Days?

Everyone will answer yes to this question. But how bad do you really want it?

If you want to absolutely transform your body in 90 days, then P90X can make it happen for you. But you will need the willpower and dedication to stick to P90X.

Beginners, especially those who have not exercised a day in their lives, may have trouble at first with P90X. But you have to get through the hurdles in order for the program to work. You must commit yourself to the body you want, and the only way to do that is to follow the P90X program exactly.

The First Few Days of Soreness

Jumping into exercise with no experience will have a lot of people giving up quickly. In order to complete P90X, you must suffer through those first few days, when you want to give up because of soreness (if it happens to you of course – some people will love it and plow right through their 90 days)

Yes, you will be sore if you have not exercised in a long time, if ever. But your body will heal – your muscles are simply rebuilding themselves to become stronger and more efficient. You will get over the soreness in a few days. And each successive time you work out with P90X, the soreness gets less severe and takes much less time to go away.

Dedication will separate the men from the boys, and the women from the girls. A very small percentage of people are blessed with a great physique naturally. Most of us are not (which explains why 70% of Americans are overweight). Dedication is the act of working towards your goals no matter how tough the journey may be.

Beginners Welcome!

The summarize this post, P90X is great for beginners. It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, skinny or fat – if you finish the 90 day program you will transform your body! The only hurdles you will have are mental. P90X lays out a fantastic weight loss program, you just have to follow it to get the results you desire!

What Happens When You Exercise

This is what happens when you begin a new workout program: If you haven’t been to the gym in a long time, or are just starting your first ever exercise program, then you’ll notice the day after your workout, you are really sore. It may take you a few days to recover from this soreness. This is because your muscles have been torn apart (on a microscopic level), and are rebuilding. As the muscles rebuild, they get stronger and bigger.

The more you workout during your exercise program, the less time it will take you to recover from muscle soreness. Eventually, you will very rarely get sore from working out, assuming you are doing the same routine over and over.

Why is Muscle Confusion important?

If you stick to an exercise routine, you start looking better and feeling great. But after a few months of the same routine, you will stop seeing the same, great results. Eventually, the returns you get from exercise start to diminish to almost nothing. (As you’ll tell from a lack of any soreness in your muscles)

The diminishing return of doing the same exercises over and over is called a “plateau.” It is common to bodybuilders and athletes, and even common for regular people. If you are already in good shape, you start to notice the “plateau” effect faster than someone who does not have good conditioning.

This is where muscle confusion comes in. You have to change up your exercise routine every so often, otherwise your muscles stop growing. If you do the same exercises with the same weight or resistance, month after month, there will come a point where you are just wasting your time.

So you either have to change up the routine you are doing, or increase the intensity. For maximum results, you want to do both.

Our bodies are incredibly efficient machines. We become accustomed to doing the same exercise fairly quickly, even if you are not in peak physical shape. We can see results from doing a new exercise immediately, but if you only stick to that particular exercise, the results diminish over a few weeks.

P90X Maximizes Results with Muscle Confusion

Another name for muscle confusion is cross-training, and the concept is nothing new. In fact, it has been around for quite some time. It was pioneered decades ago by the famous bodybuilder Joe Weider.

Over time, strength and sports coaches have used the idea of muscle confusion, or cross-training, to get the most out of their athletes.

Now the practice of muscle confusion is more mainstream, and systems like P90X have made it easy for regular people to understand and implement.

Different Exercises

One way to cause muscle confusion is by introducing new exercises into your workout regime. P90X has a full 12 DVDs of different exercises for each part of the body.

As you progress through the P90X program, you are introduced to different exercises for each body part. For example, you’ll learn different exercises that focus on the triceps, such as triceps extensions and dips.

By learning new exercises over time, your body never becomes accustomed to any exercise. Each new exercise works the muscles in a slightly different way, increasing the effectiveness of your workouts. With the variety you get, you never reach the “plateau” common to so many people who do not have the knowledge you do after going through P90X.

The main principle behind P90X is doing one month of the same routine, then doing a different variation of these exercises the next month. 30 days is the average amount of time that our bodies become accustomed to an exercise (assuming you do not increase intensity and are exercising fairly regularly)

Increased Intensity

In addition to new exercises, P90X takes it a step further by offering increasing levels of intensity. People new to proper exercise can progress at their own pace, while athletes and weightlifters can challenge themselves with some serious intensity.

You need to increase the difficulty of the exercises you do as your muscles grow. At some point in time, your muscles can easily handle the exercise and weight you are doing if nothing else changes. This is a recipe for getting bored of working out and giving up.

P90X takes the 30 day approach here, by increasing intensity as you complete each 30 day portion of the program.

By combining different exercises while increasing intensity, you can see why the P90X system has been so successful for so many people. P90X has been refined so that anyone can use it. Regular people can use P90X system to get into great physical shape, and athletes can use P90X reach peak physical conditioning.
