Swole for Summer - Day 5
I came across a good article today about exercising that really caught my attention. At first I thought, “What can article on MSN tell me that isn’t some Oprah type sissy bull crap?” Well this article goes on about 5 exercises that people do, but shouldn’t. I see people doing these all the time in the gym but I think its illegal for me to yell at them to tell them to stop.
I just want to touch on a few. Any behind the neck lat pull-down and shoulder press I see people doing in the gym gets me all riled up. What are you accomplishing that can’t be done brining the bar to your chest, other than increasing your chance of injury. I’m no doctor, but if you’re doing exercises that put stress on your muscles that isn’t natural then you are probably going to injure yourself. The other thing MSN talks about are leg extensions. The Leg Extension machine shouldn’t even have a place in the gym. If you aren’t doing squats to get every single muscle in your body working together, then you’re wasting your time. I know squats can be intimidating the first time around, but once you get the form down they will be the best exercise you will do for the lower half of your body.

Swole for Summer Update: Day 5 Diet and Exercise
This week I have stuck to my schedule of lifting and I’m feeling sore all over. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday were all intense days due to the fact that I haven’t been much of a regular at the gym lately. Military presses and arm workouts were on the menu today, and every muscle in my upper extremities hurts.
Diet has also been good. I’ve developed a pretty regular eating schedule: Eggs and OJ for breakfast, Surge Workout Recovery after the gym, burgers and broccoli for dinner, and Grow Protein Shake somewhere in there. I’m down 8.5 pounds in 4 solid days, which is a great start.
