Swole for Summer - Day 3

McDonald's TruckI’ve realized that losing weight has a lot to do with how you prepare yourself. This is true in most aspects of life. Preparation saves you time and headaches in the long run because hopefully you’ve solved problems before they arise. One of the best lines about dieting I’ve ever read was “Make your home a safe house.” The second we step outside of our homes, we are bomb-barded with advertisements for food that isn’t good for us. What’s the deal with those McDonald’s 18 wheelers that have Supersized Food on the side? There’s a McDonald’s every 5 miles, so do we have to be reminded how crispy your golden french fries are?

When people start their diet, they do not make an effort to clean their house out of all the junk thats in there. You know that bag of Cheetos you have in your cabinet that you won’t eat? Well, eventually you’re probably going to eat it. Why give yourself the chance of failure? Your home is the only place where you have complete control of surroundings. Why not make it your safe place, protecting you from the billions of advertising dollars that are spent each year on getting you to eat their junk?

Swole for Summer - Day 3: Review

I’ve been eating well since Monday. I’ve kept to my gym schedule and the results are showing. Like I said before, because of my size I tend to lose a lot of weight fast, then hit a wall that needs a big sledgehammer to break though. So far, I’m down 5.5 lbs in 3 days. That doesn’t seem like healthy weight loss for the average person, but I carry so much water weight it really ain’t no thing.

The workout today consisted of some deadlifts and other back exercises. I deadlifted 275 lbs for 6 reps x 3 sets. Not too shabby, but this is definitely an area of weight training that I can improve on.

My goal by the end of the Swole for Summer program is to be able to do pull-ups. A lot of pull-ups. I can do close-grip pull-ups for about 2 reps, but that’s all I have in me. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to do 1 wide-grip pull-up in my entire life. That needs to change, since pull-ups are the best exercise for your upper back, bar none.
